Craic
04-28-2011, 10:07 PM
Thats not what they said...the clock was still ticking and they said there has been a trade...

But now I have no idea

Yeah, I heard that too. Gotta wonder what in the world actualy happened. The only reason I could see th Cheifs trading up 1 pick, is if it was a multi-round, multi-team trade, and the CHeifs were afraid whoever else was involved wanted their guy, so they demanded the Raven's pick.
BUt all that within 10 minutes?????

Chidi29
04-28-2011, 10:28 PM
My scouting report

The Good
- Excellent size
- Fantastic upper body strength
- Stout at the point of attack
- Good bull rush
- Able to shed blocks
- Asset against the run
- Clutch
- Good motor and hustle
- Experience stunting
- Good amount of starting experience
- Solid bloodlines
The Bad
- Not a strong pass rusher
- Doesn't offer much of a repitore
- Position limited
- Injury concerns
Other
- Becaome starter as a true freshmen
- Mainly played at RE, sometimes kicked inside
- Had a sack late against Iowa to seal the win
- Father "Ironhead" was a running back in the NFL
- Recovering from Tommy John surgery
Final Word
A prototypical five technique prospect. Is solid albeit not spectacular.
Games Watched

I have my doubts he'll be back at all. Love the guy, but it honestly looks like he's reached the point where his body is just too broken down in general. Plus, more tellingly, this year when he was out, we were able to fill in for him for the first time.

Honestly, I'd worry more about Aaron Smith's job then Hoke. We don't have another NT. Smith has missed almost 2/3rds of the last two seasons, and earns quite a bit more than Hoke in comparison--and Ziggy Hood is on the rise.

and now we have another potential player that can fill in for him, yep

That's why I'm saying he'll likely be asked to take a pay cut. If he can still play he'll likely stay, but I don't think that at his salary

Yeah Im just cutting some slack to Aaron since hes so dominant and such an inspirational leader. I think Aaron knows the EXIT door is slowly starting to open up on him. Ziggy was an incredible fill in. But lets not forget the Keisel got hurt last year as well. Nothing wrong with Depth. But That Front 3 is going to have some good competition this upcoming camp.

i sure haven't done my research. is Cameron Heyward a 3-4 DE or a 4-3 DE? (saw some guy on twitter thinks we're moving to 4-3 soon now)

He was a 4-3 DE but he played the 3 Technique and even Dropped in Coverage. Youtube his INT against Miami University and youll see he can move around a bit. Hes too big to be a 3-4 OLB so hes definitely gonna be a 3/5 technique 3-4 DE. Hes great at stopping the run, which is his strong point and the priority of a Steelers DE, but his Pass Rushing needs to develop. He sometimes tries to bulrrush his way to the QB, doesnt use too much swims or spins.

He's a good football player and we have a lot of aging guys up front. At least the young tandem of Hood and Heyward are some good planning. Now I hope to see a CB and hopefully an OT going forward to prepare for some aging guys in those positions.

Cant complain about a good football player and Heyward is that.

* Ponder getting way overdrafted
* Atlanta gifting Cleveland a bucket load of picks ( was mike ditka involved in this trade)
* Cameron Jordan falling
* Bowers plummeting out of the first
* The ravens missing their pick, trade falling through with the bears and the chiefs then choosing Baldwin. What a Cluster F***
* Amukamara falling

and the lockout ending long enough for teams to be allowed to trade 2012 draft picks ............ surprise surprise New England wind up with another first round pick in 2012.
( its a great strategy of the pats. Come into the draft with 2 first round picks and use one to gain a few extra mid round pick plus a first rounder the following year to keep the scam in place. I can see Belichick continuing this strategy for as long as he is around)

BTW - I love the Cameron " Steelhead" Heyward pick. No frills, 100% surefire starter for a long time.

The second round looks ripe for the pickings. If Harris, Williams or Dowling are still available after the #15 pick look out for a trade. I wont rule out Rahim Moore, rodney Hudson or Stefan Wisniewski.

There are loads of players I would love to see drafted on day 2.

And the bonus is I can sit down, watch it and chat to you guys.

Bring it on.

I dont think he was ever on the steelers board.

I agree with that Aussie. When Carimi left town Hayward was the logical pick for us. Either that or a trade down, and we might not have had a trade partner anyway. The more I think about this pick the better I like it. As usual we just sat and watched the guy we wanted fall into our laps.

Correct me if I am wrong but Heyward is also a young senior. He has 4 years of football behind him and he is still 21.

Without having the benefit of watching the draft unfold I think that Heyward was the best option the steelers had.

Sherrod and Williams may have been possibilities but after watching the press conference it was very obvious that Heyward was definitely on their " special player list"

Marcus Gilchrist, I think he is more of a FS. I like this kid.
Curtis Marsh,
Jalil Brown, Been moving up the chart.
Chris Culliver, My favorite, ultra quick, 6'0" CB with a 38 and one half inch vertical.

If we can't get Ras-I Dowling....I want Curtis Marsh in the 3rd round...the guy is an ex RB...He's 6'1" 197lbs, 32" arms, 37.5" verticle, ran a 4.46(official)/4.42(unoficcial) at the combine and did a good job on Boise State WR's Titus Young, and Austin Pettis....he manly shut down one of the best WR in the country in Young....I think that year was his first year as a starting CB since he was converted from RB/WR....the guy is very raw and the Steelers love those moldable type players!!!

Remember this guy had surgery after this season...He played injured throughout this whole season then had surgery after....This guy is a tough guy with a high pain treshold and ultimately would move to LG/RG in our offense....

Another possibility for us in the 2nd would be Rodney Hudson...but I don't think he falls to us in the lower second round...

I got to see a little more of Heyward than Hood (i dont watch much college in reality). And i agree...i think Heyward played more of the position he will with the Steelers...he was DT/DE...depending on the formation/etc. And he did a lot of the stuff the Steelers like of their DEs...plus he rushes the passer quite well. Hood was more a DT only in college (if i remember right)...so he did have to learn/adapt/etc...Heyward may be able to make an impact sooner than we think.

Good pick by Titans with Ayers.

Finally a Linebacker has been taken.

Product of college defenses having to adjust to the spread. You get a bunch of glorified defensive backs. Fast coverage guys with no bulk and guys that can't play the run.

Milddle linebacker is practically disappearing.

Hmm, good pick Jerry. A little early but if he stays healthy should be a terror with Ware

With the 9th pick in the second round, Dan Snyder, owner of the Redskins, trades away all of his picks for the next 30 years for Dan Snyder, owner of the Redskins

With the 8th pick in the second round, Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys selects Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys.

Don't forget about Sean Lee.

Yep, certainly doesn't help their weak secondary though.

Temporary stay while Court waits to hear arguments.

So technically that should mean that teams cannot trade future draft picks now???

The window was open long enough for the Pats to get their mandatory first round pick via trade for the following year???

You can trade draft picks because they aren't NFL players

Temporary stay while Court waits to hear arguments.

And hopefully for both sides to consider a better - like a settlement.
