The night before the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted him in the first-round in 1972, Franco Harris had a dream. He dreamt it was the Steelers who drafted him, but when he woke from it, he wasn’t happy.
“The night before the draft was when it hit me I was going to be drafted,” said Harris. “I didn’t know what people thought of me. I had no information at all. I didn’t want to be drafted by Pittsburgh or Green Bay and I dreamt that night I was drafted by Pittsburgh.
“I was in my apartment by myself and got a phone call that I was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers. I couldn’t believe it. The main reason I didn’t want to go there was I just had four years at Penn State and I wanted to see more of the country and I was thinking about warm weather teams then. But I got the call it was the Steelers and it was just a three-hour drive down the road.”............
