This is #8 in a recap of the 2010 season. There is a list with links at the end of the post for those who may have missed some or all of the previous posts and would like to check them out. But now it's time for the first game vs. the Cincinnati Bengals (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/cincinnati-bengals).

This was our Monday Night Football game, and was a game both the Steelers (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/pittsburgh-steelers) and the Bengals really needed to win. The Steelers needed the win so that they would not fall behind the Baltimore Ravens (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/baltimore-ravens), who were 6-2 and had beat us in Week 4. It was a much more desperate and embarrassing than that for the Bengals - they needed the win so as not to fall behind the Browns (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/cleveland-browns), which is just as bad as it sounds. The problem was, the Bengals defense came prepared to play.

But apparently no one had mentioned this issue to the offense or special teams, because they seemed prepared to hand the game over to the Steelers until the beginning of the fourth quarter, when they started showing signs of life and almost scared the pants off of the Steeler faithful. Carson Palmer (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/2600/carson-palmer) was asked after the game if it felt like 2009, like they were going to come out and win the game in the fourth quarter, and said "Yea, I thought, and everybody in the huddle thought, that we were going to go down and score. Obviously, and unfortunately, that's not the case." But on to the game:

Game 8 @ Cincinnati Bengals - Final Score Steelers 27, Bengals 21............

BTSC has only posted up to game 8. I will post the remainer of the articles as he writes them.

I put them in separate posts for 2 reasons:
1. To encourage discussion about each particular game.
2. Each thread is a separate twitter/FB post (the threads are hooked up to an automatic feed on twitter and then it posts automatically on our FB page.) thus making separate hits on each article. That helps build our google ranking thus expanding our exposure to people looking for Steelers forums.

I really like these. Might as well look at them during the long offseason!

Once the 4th quarter went downhill, I really thought we were going to lose in the last minute like the game there in 09. Glad we stepped up at the end that time.

The worst win in the steelers history!!!!!

http://www.steelersuniverse.com/forums/showthread.php/4025-The-worst-wins-in-the-steelers-history!

awful four quarter

His was the most embarrassing loss if the Steelers would have lost after leading 27-7 against the Bungles in primetime!

I almost had a heart attack during the 4th quarter.

Then there was the embarrassing loss against the Patriots and I must say that I was not expecting that participates in the steelers super bowl after the horrible performance against the Bungles and the Patriots.

We were at PB Stadium last year and watched the 4th quarter meltdown in person. I couldn't believe it was happening again. We watched this game at home and I was pacing from the living room and the kitchen. Unbelieveable.

There's really no excuse for the Steelers' D to keep having so many 4th quarter meltdowns. Now they got lucky this time, but I really wish LeBeau would keep the heat on when the team has a big lead. No reason whatsoever for the Bengals to have gotten back into this game.
