Morning take: Steelers in Texas
March, 30, 2011
By James Walker

Here are the most interesting stories Wednesday in the AFC North:

Several members of the Pittsburgh Steelers, including coach Mike Tomlin, were on hand for the University of Texas pro day this week.

Morning take: Texas cornerback Aaron Williams is the one prospect I keep hearing with Pittsburgh. He's physical and aggressive, which fits in well with the Steelers' defense. Cornerback also is a huge need for Pittsburgh.

In the first Steelers Universe draft I had thought that Aaron Williams might be our pick but backed away from that prediction due to his poor showing at the combine.

His excellent pro day workout should put him back into the first round on most draft boards and make him a VERY likely Steeler pick at #31.

If we go with Williams in the first I think that Marcus Cannon is a viable second round pick for us.

The talk about Williams being a true FS doesn't bother me at all. For one thing, he would still be better than any CB, other than Taylor, on the first day of training camp. Beside, I didn't hear much of this kind of talk till Maylock said it. I think it may be a case of copycat reporting. Still not sure I don't like Curtis Brown a little better, but Williams would be fine with me if that is who they decide on.

To be honest, I think if Cannon makes it to us in the 2nd we would both be more than a little surprised. Then again, they could trade up.
