View Full Version : John Harbaugh and the Baltimore Ravens Need to Learn That Silence Is Golden

John Harbaugh, the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, once again proved that the Ravens don’t know when not to talk.

During a conference call with Ravens season ticket holders on Monday, Harbaugh said, “I’ve said it before, and people in Pittsburgh got upset, but I feel like we gave them the game twice this year. We should have beaten them three times and that’s on us. That’s our fault.”

It started during last season when the Ravens talked their usual talk about how they wanted to play the Steelers and for the Steelers to “bring it.”

And what happened? The Steelers “brought it” in the form of Defensive Player of the Year Troy Polamalu, who beat “The Blind Side,” Michael Oher and hit Joe Flacco in the blind side, sending the ball to the turf where Lamarr Woodley scooped it up and returned it to the Ravens’ nine-yard-line.

Three plays later, Ben Roethlisberger found Isaac Redman for the go-ahead touchdown.

It’s funny, Coach Harbaugh, but I don’t recall Flacco “giving” the ball to Woodley.

Then, in the playoffs, the Steelers spotted the Ravens a 21-7 lead going into halftime, including maybe the most bizarre touchdown I have ever seen, when Cory Redding picked up a ball that had laid on the turf for more than three seconds after Roethlisberger fumbled it. The problem was that nobody thought it was a fumble.

Maybe this is part of the problem in Baltimore—the players don’t know what the hell their coach is talking about.

Lol...

Sometimes I think we should've gone with Rex Ryan, but that thought goes away pretty quickly.

Man, I respect the ravens a lot, but I just cannot respect their coach at all! He's a whiny crybaby and it will stop the ravens from advancing as a team

Take a lesson from Tomlin- "They beat us", plain and simple

He'll never do that. He's an idiot who doesn't have any class. I'd say the same thing about Tomlin if he made a comment that he was glad we hurt an opposing QB.

Im a Ravens fan and I will admit that sometimes we complain too much but COME ON. Did you even watch the playoff game? The refs gave that game to them plain and simple. The PI call on Josh Wilson....come on that was CLEARLY a PI on Wallace. Tho holding call on the punt return? That was a clean block and the refs didnt throw the flag untill Webb was basically on the side line.....WAY too late to throw a penalty. They also missed a false start on the winning TD by Mendenhall......if you done believe me look at it again, #85 on the steelers jumped way too early and the refs didnt call it. And i have followed the NFL for a very very very very long time and I have never seen a defensive holding penalty on a running play more specifically at the goal line. The refs gave them that game. I will admit the game in Baltimore was won by the Steelers fair and square. You also have to go back and look at history, the Steelers have gotten a MYRIAD of calls their way. Just look at the Super Bowl VS the Cardinals. Santonio Holmes used the ball as a prop...15 yard penalty added to the kickoff. Cardinals would have gotten good field position and not to mention Kurt Warner's arm was moving forward and it was not a fumble. The Super Bowl VS the Seahawks...that was a joke. The STeelers historically get calls when other teams dont. A perfect example was the Dolphins game this year. The Big Ben fumble at the end? All rules would indicate that the Dolphins should have gotten the ball but yet the Steelers win the game....

I remember someone here once making the point that Harbaugh thinks that every turnover in the Raven's favor is because of the incredible skill and unbelieveable perceptiveness of his defense, and every turnover in the opponent's (read: Steelers) favor is due to bad luck or referee interference, never because of the skill of the opposing D or bad play on the Raven's offense. Never taking responsibility when something goes wrong for his team. I wish I could remember who first said this, not only to give credit, but also to search and copy the original post as he said it so much better than I just did. I remember thinking what a very good point the Mystery Poster made at the time, and Harbaugh just keeps proving the MP right. Perhaps the MP will recognize himself and repost his quote for me - I'd like to see it again.

Did Ravens choke? No, Steelers strangled them

You could say the Baltimore Ravens choked. Or I could sit here and write that the Ravens choked on Saturday, when they dissolved in the second half of a 31-24 loss that allowed Pittsburgh to advance to the AFC Championship Game next week.

But that wouldn't be fair to Pittsburgh. The Ravens were prey, yes, but only because Pittsburgh was the predator. You know that sentence I wrote earlier, that the Ravens "allowed Pittsburgh to advance" next week? Forget that. The Ravens didn't allow a damn thing -- Pittsburgh took it.

Pittsburgh beat the Ravens. Beat them up, beat them down. Beat them physically and mentally
