becuz of his rings n his short career but hes average to me just the highest paid game manager n nfl history

Put Rivers with the Steelers team and Rivers would have had six rings by now!

INSPITEOFBERGER is as overrated as Terry Bradshaw. Both win because of their D and running game. Ben proved once again that it is all about his team yesterday when they were in the position to win INSPITE his poor play

Namath and Bradshaw are in the HOF so why not INSPITE?

And like Bradshaw, Ben wins games INSPITE of his stats. Bradshaw once won a SB game throwing 14 times for less than 100 yards...true story. He also won a SB game throwing 3 INTs.

Ben won a SB having a 22 passer rating.

See, they are more alike than we will ever know.

Bradshaw threw for 212 Tds and 210 INT, 51.9 completion % and a 70 passer rating in his career and won 4 SBs....that's pure comedy

Those numbers in todays NFL would have you on the bench or the practise squad.

Yep, that's why the Chargers have been LOADED with talent since Rivers has been there and yet haven't won jack shit. :coffee:

Yeah, I know - but, but, but Norv Turner!

Another forum full of 13-year-old fantasy football nerds that don't know what the f*ck they're talking about. Next. :coffee:

I'm feel sorry for them, having to put up with Rivers and his 3-4 playoff record

Forget Ben's shaky Oline, his playmaking abilities, and his 88 yard TD drive to win a superbowl, he's still a game manager

Yes we would much rather have Fouts and Rivers, no Super Bowls, but 1 shit load of touchdowns. :sarcasm:

OK, Chargers I'll let you in on a secret, you don't need a QB that passes, you need a QB that leads. Winning is the standard, not statistics.

Were they not the #1 offense and #1 defense this past year ? Did they even make the playoffs ?

Spot on. :applaudit:

They can have Rivers and his choke artistry - I'll take Ben any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

If these people want to argue stats, let's look at some stats:
Ben Roethlisberger:
Yards: 22,502
Touchdowns: 144
Playoff record: 10-3
Philip Rivers:
Yards: 19,661
Touchdowns: 136
Playoff record: 3-4

Also, Ben Roethlisberger isn't a whiny little bitch

Manning, Brady, Rivers, Rodgers, Brees, Vick, and Schaub for sure. A few others are about on the same tier as him, to me.

The guy doesn't put up elite stats, so he's touted as a QB that "just knows how to win." What they really mean, is he's a pretty good QB on a team with a winning formula. Because I, personally, can't buy the "winner" label for a guy who consistently puts up his worst games when the team needs him to win most. His other great strength is usually his escapability and ability when scrambling, but it is as much a problem as an advantage, and really just amounts to him holding the ball longer than any other QB will, but being big enough for players to regularly miss their tackles.

He's a good QB, and he makes a number of plays, but his "greatness" has been created by a number of over-used cliches by the media and the age old mistake of considering superbowl wins a QB's stat.

I wish I had more time at the moment to go in depth a bit more about this, and look at it a bit more, but I think one thing you have to consider when you're talking about those particular splits is the situation that their respective teams put them in when they're playing against top defenses.

For example, against top 10 PPG defenses this season, the Texans gave up 29 points (SD), 30 points (NYJ), 34 points (BAL), and extending it to top 10, gave up 31 (KC), and 31 (TEN.) Every top 15 defense the Texans played this year, Schaub had to put up more than 30 points in order to win the game.

For Roethlisberger, however, the Steelers gave up 9 points (ATL), 13 points (TB), 20 points (NO), 39 (NE), 10 (BAL), 22 (NYJ), and 17 (BAL.) Adding 11-15, they gave up 11 (TEN), 10 (CLE), 22 (MIA), and 9 (CLE.)

So basically, the LEAST points Schaub's offense would have to score to win any of those games was 30, while Roethlisberger only had one game (amongst A LOT) where he had to score more than 23 points in order to win the game. Schaub was put in shootout situations constantly against upper tier defenses, while when Roethlisberger played against defensive teams, the games resulted in defensive battles.

Matt Shaud is better than Ben?....He is an idiot!....Peyton,Brady,Ben,Rodgers,Rivers and Brees are undoubtedly in the top 6(elite), regardless of the order.

Mike vick,Matt Ryan,Josh Freeman,Eli Manning,Tony Romo and maybe Joe Flacco are better than Shaud.

It is completely stupid!

Chargers fans certainly know a thing about Championship Quarterbacks, that's why Rivers has no rings and Dan Fouts likewise. Both put up fantastic stats and numbers but are ringless.

For the charger fans out there. Yeah Ben may not have gaudy stats and you are right he is part of a great team!!! He has played crappy and won a Superbowl and has come through when we needed him most against the cards and won a Superbowl. Say what you want about him us Steeler fans love him and wouldn't trade him for any other QB in the league.

They say the same things about Hines too, and you can't have him either. Doesn't have guady stats but he's no slouch either.

See Charger fans you point to stats and then say team sport, just remember one thing. As "The Emperor Chaz" once said "Stats are for Losers"!!!

Enjoy your sour grapes.

My favorite argument is that ben is just on the for the ride and fell into a great team, has no affect on there wins

Chargers have done nothing since Don Coreyell and never won a SB. The 2000 Rams were better for one season.
