Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Steelers insider, Ed Bouchette said the team is currently unable to sign Ike Taylor because of the current collective bargaining negotiations.

Bouchette said if the Steelers really wanted to sign him or if Taylor really wanted to come back they could have done it before he became a free agent. However, he thinks in the end Taylor will be a Steeler next year.

In the past, Steelers owner, Dan Rooney was known as a mediator when it came to NFL labor negotiations. Now, his son, Art, is on the Management Council Executive Committee. Bouchette thinks Art can grown into his father’s role.

Bouchette wrote in his blog that Hines Ward is taking Dancing with the Stars seriously, but a couple of his teammates are more interested in what he will be wearing on the show instead of how he will finish..............

I hope Bouchette is right (for once). I just can't fathom not seeing Ike wearing black and gold. :horror:

I want Ike back as much as anyone, but there have been several quotes from him and his agent about testing the market and it being a business. Doesn't really sound that positive to me, so unless Ed has had a direct conversation with Ike, I would say this is just article filler to get it read.

if they give taylor at least 6 million a year he might come back, but would he be worth it?

i think ike is in the best position here. he knows we dont have jack behind him and can pretty much hold us hostage. if we want to keep him we are going to have to pay.

As long as they don't overpay him. I don't want him back for redskins value. But that's not gonna happen so no need to worry about that

Be smart ike! Take the generous offer we'll give you
