stephen paea put up 49 reps. did anyone else watch? i counted 6 legit reps. he did not extend his right arm fully. he was short-arming them. it's still impressive to get 49, but how would he do if he used the proper form? at least it's not as bad as when the NFL players do it on pro bowl weekend.

I thought that his form was fine, but maybe I wasn't paying attention close enough. Still though, 49 is ridiculous.

Now that I think about it, I think your right about short arming them. I've seen it from a few others too.

yep, i watched it again too. he was short-arming. they should have given him only 6 reps. :)

That's a huge misconception that people make about benching: Having longer arms/short arming doesnt have that big of an affect on what you lift. The last couple inches of your repetitions are the easiest, and short arming is only what, 1-2 inches maybe? That he's missing out on each rep? Being tall and parallel squatting on the other hand...

i disagree, having longer arms does have an affect on how much you lift. when i short-arm my bench i can do about 8 more reps at 225.

it's like pull-ups. if you don't fully extend your arms it isn't as difficult.
