The question is, who do you think has been the Steelers best offensive coordinater in the post Noll era of the Steelers?
The candiates are.
A. Ron Earhardt 92-95. Claim to fame, OC of Steelers 95 AFC champions, went away from his long held philosophy of pound 'em on the ground football and adapted to talent in leading Steelers to most points in a season (407) post Noll era.
Moment of shame; none really as a Steeler except was forced into retirement to make way for ascending star of Chan Gailey
B. Chan Gailey 96-97 Claim to fame. Got to conference championship game with Kordell Stewart as his qb, a season in which Stewart had a hand in 32 touchdowns ( 21 passing, 11 running)
Moment of shame; going away from ground game in 97 conference title game with the lead and allowing Kordell to blow it.
C. Mike Mularkey 01-03 Claim to fame; helped resurrect Kordell's career and put him on the path to MVP consideration for one brief season.
Moment of shame; going pass only offense in Meadowlands vs Jets in blizzard like conditions in 03.
D. Ken Whisenhunt 04-06. Claim to fame; Randle El option pass for deciding score in SB on a day when his qb was having a sub par game.
Moment of shame; when said qb refused to acknowledge him prior to 06 game vs Cardinals
E. Bruce Arians, 07-present. Claim to fame; was at the helm for best game winning drive in Super Bowl history
Moment of shame; was at the helm for measly 6 point, 8 sack, pass happy attack in wind and elements against pathetic Brown team in 09.
