Pittsburgh Steelers (http://www.nfl.com/teams/pittsburghsteelers/profile?team=PIT) defensive backs coach Ray Horton has offers to be the defensive coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals (http://www.nfl.com/teams/arizonacardinals/profile?team=ARI) and the defensive backs coach for the Dallas Cowboys (http://www.nfl.com/teams/dallascowboys/profile?team=DAL), according to a league source.

The Steelers defense led the league in points allowed per game (14.5) and was 12th in pass defense (214.1 yards). Their secondary included 2010 AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year Troy Polamalu (http://www.nfl.com/players/troypolamalu/profile?id=POL041872).

Horton has an interview scheduled this week in Arizona, according to a league source. The Cardinals have been looking for a defensive coordinator since Billy Davis was not retained by coach Ken Whisenhunt.............

Oh - - - so now he's after Horton??? :mad2: With all of the coaches out there around the NFL, why the hell does he always have to try to take ours??? I'm sick to death of him already. :mad2:

Sorry, Coach Horton - but you aren't going to be able to make prime rib out of ground beef in AZ.

Won't happen,

Just saw a headline saying that the Steelers have refused to grant him an interview.

EDIT: In fact, here it is.

The Steelers have turned down a request from the Arizona Cardinals to interview linebackers coach Keith Butler for their defensive coordinator position, the Post-Gazette has learned.
The Cardinals sought permission from team president Art Rooney II today, two days after

Father - this article isn't about Butler. Wisenhunt is now trying to steal Ray Horton.

That's Keith Butler, but apparantly Ray Horton has an interview this week.

That's fine though, after seeing this secondary, I don't mind Horton going. Butler however, I want to stay right here and keep on learning from Lebeau. Let's get a seasoned secondary coach in here to fill in some gaps and fix a couple problems- and take over the league next year.

I'm fine with it. Don't take Butler. You can have Horton. I'm sure Tomlin and LeBeau can put their heads together and find a good secondary coach for us. Jon Lynch anyone? Just a thought.

I think a change in the secondary coaching may be a good thing. Maybe they can find another coach. I'd rather keep Butler

WTH??? Why can't the Cardinals troll the other 31 teams in the league for coaches??? Whiz the Wannabe strikes again...

I don't get it..He keeps trying & trying! Is this some lame attempt at vindication or revenge? It ain't workin! The definition of "stupid" is making the same mistake over & over & expecting different results.

Just a thought here, but our secondary has been suspect for years. DL is the genuis of Dline and backers. I DO believe that we have some talented DB`s. Could it be that the POSITION COACH might have something to do with it???? Just asking. Maybe a Hortonectomy will be a good thing???

I guess if he can coach the Steelers he'll try to bring the steelers to him. Build your own team man.

Good place to have a new coach. Different perspective and maybe some schemes to help Lebeau attack the 5 wide instead of getting torched by it. It has been almost 10 years since our D was exposed, time to do something about it.

Why dont he go after Darren Perry from the Packers. He was here when Whiz was and he knows the 3-4 probably better then Horton.

With the way that guy hit in the league in his prime I think the Steelers can dish out 1 billion dollars in fines by week 6 lmao.

They got him.

The Arizona Republic's Kent Somers confirms Steelers DBs coach Ray Horton will sign on as the Cardinals' next defensive coordinator Wednesday.

It turns out Mike Jurecki of XTRA 910 in Phoenix was right all along. Since coach Ken Whisenhunt knows Horton from their time together in Pittsburgh, the Wednesday interview will be formality. Horton is expected to bring Dick LeBeau's system to Arizona, so the defense will remain a 3-4 alignment. Aging pass rusher Joey Porter obviously knows the scheme well, and O'Brien Schofield could emerge on the opposite side.

Though our secondary isn't great shakes, I'd still take it over what Horton the Who now has to work with in AZ.

Best of luck to you Coach Horton! :drink:

well AZ's secondary just took a step back

Not like they had very far to go to achieve that.

I'm not one to totally put the blame on coaches for a unit's lack of performance. Our secondary wasn't Top 10 but really didn't perform all that badly this season - even with Troy out of the lineup for several weeks.
