This one, alas, did not end with that familiar ring.

These remarkably resilient Steelers, on the cusp of one of the most spectacular comebacks in sporting history, failed to secure their record seventh championship by falling short of the Green Bay Packers, 31-25, in Super Bowl XLV Sunday night at Cowboys Stadium.

It came oh, so close to being oh, so different.

"We just wanted a taste of the lead. Just a taste. And were right there," safety Troy Polamalu said. "But they made the plays on defense, and we didn't. That was the difference."....................

Turnovers killed the steelers & thats just part of what happened. Where was Woodley & Harrison or their Famous pass rush;...& where was their will to wanna win? this was one of the poorest prepared & played games I have seen in some time for a team to want a Championship. This was definately NOT Steelers Football. They looked the same way the jets did when they played the Steelers;...Pathetic, Unprepared, Unwilling, & what was with all those horizontal pass plays;....Vertical ! Vertical is how you win games Not Horizontal !

Last night the Steelers did what 30 other teams would have love to have done. Played in the game of the year.

It's a horrible feeling to lose a Super Bowl, but I'm very proud of the players and coaches of the Steelers.....Mike Tomlin has to prove he is a great coach ...... The Steelers were one of the worst off-season in the history of the NFL, but the Steelers have participated in the Super Bowl.....And 2 wins against the Ravens, it will always remain a great memory, especially in a playoff because the Ravens led 21-7 at the half.

It's a waste of time moping over losing the Bowl. The 2010 Steelers have way too many accomplishments and wonderful memories to be doing that. They had a great season where many players and the team as a whole exceeded all expectations in a big way. Did anyone forget the level of uncertainty we had going into 2010 with Holmes leaving, Ben getting suspended, and the AFC field getting even more crowded and challenging? The Ravens with Boldin looked as strong as ever and it looked like they would take over the North. Instead we knocked them out of the division race and took them out of the playoffs yet again. Not to mention, the Steelers took out big mouth Rex Ryan and the Jets.

Winning the Bowl would just be a cherry on top to a well-made cake. It was a successful season regardless.

2010 to me was Mike Tomlin's greatest coaching job, even though he didn't win it all.
