Even the most casual football fan knows that Aaron Rodgers will start at quarterback in Super Bowl XLV Sunday night. By contrast, even the most ardent fans might not know who will be lining up behind Rodgers at running back.

History suggests the Packers will have to run the ball effectively to beat the Steelers, and the player charged with the task of trying to penetrate the Steelers' top-ranked rushing defense is James Starks, a rookie out of the University of Buffalo...........

Yeah, well good luck with that. The Packers have to and will pass if they have any hopes of winning. Lining up and running against the Steelers pretty much spells defeat.

Let's stick with our game plan and shut down the run early and often and force the Pack to win with their offense which they easily can have one of the most potent passers and WR corp in the league so the secondary has to be strong and I expect Troy to sit back most of the game giving the secondary added support.

They need 20+ running plays to win the game. Anything less as long as there are no turnovers and we are celebrating the 3rd in 6.

it would help for sure if they ran it but i think they could beat us without a running game. if i'm green bay, i go 5-wide on the first drive and see what happens. i mean, our worst games this year were against the teams that ran a spread offense so i don't know why they would try something other than that at the beginning.

If Ryan Grant was in the lineup, I'd be a little concerned, but sadly his season was over in Week #1. Jackson is mediocre at best and Starks is a newb who has no SB experience and has never played against our D. Shut 'em down early and dare Rodgers to beat you through the air. My gut tells me that our secondary is going to be energized tomorrow night and make us all proud!

The only thing they have going for them is that there's not enough tape to evaluate starks on

But even that should not be a problem for this defense. Business as usual

The only place the Packers might have success running is from the single back formation. If they try to come at the Steelers D with a two back set, they have no chance...none. Starks will get some carries to keep the Steelers honest...

I suggest the Packers just take 3 knees in a row and punt. it'll save them the punishment and embarressment of being Destroyed by us every down!

You would think no one has EVER ran on us. I know we are very VERY good against the run. But don't forget, we are one holding penalty away (and it may or may NOT have affected the game) from having at least 1 100 yard rusher against us this year.
