I tried to listen to his farewell address......but couldnt listen to his self-important, pseudo intellectual ramblings for more than about minute and a half.

He was a moron as a sports announcer. Now they would have to make up a brand new word for him.

venom,
The whole network sucks. Watching Maddow is like listening to fingernails on a chalkboard. But why Olberman specifically? I thought his ratings were the least-bad on that network.
*edit* it appears that MSNBC "terminated his contract", no reason given. He must've really pissed someone off!

Good riddance. He's a chauvinist pig and a bald-faced liar.

I wonder if it had anything to do with the Tucson shootings and the call for civility? Olbermann, unlike Palin, specifically called for violence against a politician (Hillary in the 2008 primary). He also went so far off the deep end with namecalling that Jon Stewart dedicated a show to it. And he has a history of bald faced lies. He repeatedly claimed that there are no minorities in the Tea Party, even minority Tea Partiers spoke up. He propagated the lie that Assange's rape charge is really for a condom breaking (he's being accused of forcible rape). I didn't watch his post-Tucson coverage but I'm willing to bet he kept lying about that even after the facts came out.

See, here's my take on it. Olbermann is everything and then some that people accuse Rush of being.

Especially with his Neanderthal attitude about women.

Yay, I'm glad he's gone, now if Fox would just get rid of Hanity so both extremes are out of there.

MSNBC still has Maddow and FOX would still have O'Reilly. There's no shortage of partisan, extremist hackery.

Never watched Maddow, but O'Reilly doesn't,s bother me as much as Hanity does. I actually like O'Reilly's show sometimes but other times it gets overly partisan too. I don't mind some of the talk shows to be partisan, but Olberman and Hanity where way too extreme for my tastes.

Hanity just says the same things over and over. He asks a question and before its even answered he talks over the person and asks another question, drives me crazy.

Heck, there's a lot worse out there. You've got Maddow and Maher on the left. You've got Coulter and Savage on the right. None of them further discussion at all. Their job is to throw red meat to the base so they feel good about what they already think. Kinda like drug pushers.

My personal favorite commentary show is Armstrong & Getty out of Sacramento. They don't hold back on either side, and they actually give you food for thought instead of telling you what you want to hear. Plus they're funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBTwV_x-Pxg

I've never heard of those guys, but that was a pretty good clip. I'd listen to them again.
