Yes, it's from the Ravens' website, but it's all about the Steelers

What’s it going to take for the Ravens to get past the Steelers?

Ravens Owner Steve Bisciotti believes it has to do with confidence.

“They have that confidence,” Bisciotti said. “They have those two Super Bowl trophies in the last five years, so they have the confidence. Does confidence beget success? Yeah, it does in a lot of situations. They’re there, we’re not. We’ve got to get there. When we get there, we’re going to be more confident.

“They make the extra play. That’s what championship teams do. We’re not there yet. They are.”

The Ravens have beaten the Steelers twice in eight chances during the Head Coach John Harbaugh era. Baltimore has been knocked out of the playoffs by their AFC North rivals twice during that time.

“[They are] the gold standard,” Bisciotti said. “We’re trying. We’re trying to be there, and we’re close. They don’t take us lightly. So, we’ve got their attention.”

The 2008-2010 Ravens are a new version of the 1978-80 Oilers. Good teams that could not get over the hump. The Oilers kept knocking on the door but couldn't beat it down like Bum wanted them to.

Yea. I think a big part of it is "mental" for the Ravens.

The Ravens will never win. Why?

Look at them. No accountability. No moxie. And lots and lots of excuses. Harbaugh's comments pretty much sum up the bridesmaid culture over in Baltimore. Excuses, rationalizations, and sugarcoating. It trickles from the front office, to the coaches, to the players, and right on down to the fans.

Never ones to be accountable, the Ravens never man up and accept their shortcomings and losses. It's always the refs out to get them. The other team got lucky. Defensive players throwing offense under the bus. The planets weren't aligned properly, etc. Just admit you got beat and move on. You win as a team and you lose as a team. The Ravens Offense didn't give up 3rd and 19 and 24 second half points. Their vaunted Defense did. Don't tell that to Gay Ray and Ratbird fans, though. It's all Flaccid's fault.

Until Baltimore cuts out the bullshit and shed the loser's mentality, they'll never amount to anything more than a good but not great team. Notice how they love wearing T-Shirts about the Steelers but the Steelers could care less about them? It's that reason why this "rivalry" is showing some signs of diminishing. The Ravens aren't our equal, they're our bitch, and it's going to stay that way until Baltimore gets some guts.

Generally, I'd say the Ravens have been pretty consistent (7 playoff appearances in the last 11 seasons). The Houston Oilers comparison is pretty accurate, with the exception being that the Ravens HAVE made it and won a Superbowl. If you look at the playoff games they've lost, it reminds me of Bill Cowher's playoff teams in the 1990's...always in the game, but just not enough offensive production to take the pressure off the defense. In all of their playoff losses since they won the Superbowl they never scored more than 17 points until this years loss and that game included the gimme touchdown on the fumble...two of the losses they didn't even break 10 points.

Their main problem is that they're always trying to be us.
