They noted that he only had 4 passes over 9 yards! The Jets vastly simplified their routes and cut back on the playbook. If that's true, he could be in for a long day!

I can picture LeBeau ringing his hands.

That's actually the best way to beat us, if he can do it every down, as evidenced by Brady.

He's no Brady, though.

He is not as accurate as Brady. Second time around we should be able to get pressure on him. If we play 60 minutes of Steelers football we should be allright!

or the steelers could be in for a long day. the steelers DBs tend to play 8 to 10 yards off the scrimmage.

Normally they do, but after that drubbing from the Pats, Lebeau quietly started adjusting them. They've been playing closer and mixing in some more man to man coverage and some bump and run. I heard a stat over the weekend that during the last 7 weeks of the season the Steelers were the top pass defense.

As much as I have condemned the STeelers D and Lebeau for 4th quarter let downs and pass defense-- I now have to also state that they have done something truly special with that element of the game. They went from something like 28th in pass D to 15th in 5 games or so :jawdrop: That is quite an amazing stat, especially when the run D STAYED the same!

I have a lot more confidence right now. If they want to throw passes 2, 5, 9 yards down field. Fine. let them. You just know Lebeau is going to let our LB's and Safeties peal off rushes and clog passing lanes 3, 6 yards back from the LOS. One safety will drop back 20 yards or so to play a true safety position, and the other will come up to clog more lanes. The only thing that is scary, is if the get the ball in Bongtonio's hands and he has 2 or 3 open yards to get up to speed.

Yeah but that's just because everyone is running more.:tongue1: Wait, that's not true. This means our D must be pretty good. Maybe it's time to show the world!!!

What Pepsyman said.
We haven't been playing off the receivers since game 9, betting that opposing QBs won't have enough time to develop go routes.
Since then we've been holding opposing teams to 156 yards per game through the air.
The last few games we've seen Troy and Clark mixing up the safety play and that's brought even more confusion to opposing QBs. They're used to having to key on the guy with the big hair, but as often as not the real threat is the mean guy in the 25 jersey. Now they're lucky if they crack 100 yards a game through the air.

Our D has adjusted to the opponent's adjustment to our original scheme. Ryan Cark and Troy have been switching roles and confusing them. Also, Sanchez is a notoriously slow starter and inaccurate early. If we can jump out to a good lead and then pressure him, we can put them away by the thrid quarter.

... i'm guessing that includes YAC ...

... off the top of my head all i remember is cotchery's long run across the middle then down the right sideline ...

Yep. They gave the Ravens receivers very little cushion off the line last week and I expect the same this week.

I know right? Sanchez actually won some play off games WITHOUT cheating.
