Joe Namath has never shied away from making a bold statement.
Forty-two years after guaranteeing -- and delivering -- a Super Bowl win against the Colts, the Jets legend and Hall of Fame QB likes what he sees in this year's outfit.
"They've certainly out-manned our Super Bowl team with ability and speed," Namath told Newsday. "You have to feel good about this team. When I look at the physical abilities of the players, there's no doubt they're bigger and faster and stronger than we were."
Namath said he expects this season's Jets team to be "one of the best we've ever seen."
For a chance to prove Namath right, New York will have to beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh on Sunday.
"This team's better than last year's team, and it's doable," said Namath, referring to the squad that snuck into the AFC playoffs with a 9-7 record and won consecutive road games over the Bengals and Chargers before losing to the Colts in the AFC championship.
