• Marcus Smith turned around and started trash talking. That's how confident the Baltimore special teamer was that the flag on the turf wasn't directed at him following the Ravens' would-be go-ahead, 55-yard punt return for a touchdown by Lardarius Webb that would have given them a 28-24 lead with six minutes left in Saturday's AFC divisional playoff game against the Steelers. Smith was called for holding Will Allen on the Steelers' 19-yard line, eventually costing the Ravens four points. "I thought no way that it is on me," said Smith................

...........................• Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco has lost his share of heartbreakers to the Steelers, but he still doesn't think the Steelers are much better than the Ravens. "They are just better at winning the game than us right now," Flacco said. "We need to improve on that. We aren't there yet." Flacco is 4-3 in the playoffs in three years. Two of those losses came to the Steelers......................

That will never happen from the Ratbirds.

I've read elsewhere (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=yhoo-ept_sports_nfl_experts-308095) that it wasn't a hold, just a "flop" by Allen. It was a HOLD, clear as day.

Yea, total BS. I guess that idiot didn't see the handful of Allen's jersey that the Crow had ahold of when Allen was trying to get to the ball carrier. It was a blatent and obvious hold and it was called.

Anyone have a good picture to prove it? We're going to need that to show the haters.

It doesn't matter if you have a picture. They'll still whine.

Exactly. Even though it was a clear hold (see pic above), they'll argue some ridiculous bullshit like "it wasn't much of a hold and therefore shouldn't have been called," like there are different "degrees" of holding. Hell, there are still a slew of assclowns who piss and moan about Santo's catch in XLIII swearing he didn't get both feet down when there are mountains of photographic evidence to the contrary available by a simple Google search (but those are Photoshopped ). And obviously biased assholes like Shannon Sharpe and Boomer Esiason harping on the officiating after the fact only throws gas on the fire. At the end of the day, the pussies and crybabies who absolutely cannot accept a loss are still going to whine and bellyache about how "we had the refs in our back pockets" regardless.

Actually, I have been posting at a Ravens site, where they say that exact thing. They lost. Yeah the reffing was bad, but it didn't make a difference. They lost.

Heck, there are people over there arguing this exact point, and someone there posted that same picture as above.

That's good the fans are realizing it. It's the players themselves that can't just say they lost the game.

Eh.. the two aren't mutually exclusive. It WAS a hold, and Allen DID ham it up. This falls in the same category as a DB tugging on a jersey running down the field. It is how you play the game.

Ten bucks says the poster named "compiler" who's listed as a "newbie" there who said it was a hold that this idiot is arguing with is a Steelers fan. :coffee:

Sure looks like a hold to me.

http://img837.imageshack.us/img837/9391/hold.jpg

Thats not a hold. Thats called a block. He's in front of him with his hands inside. The little jersey tug happens on every play, legal blocks and illegal blocks. If he had grabbed the back of the jersey while he was being run past or had him wrapped up you might have had a case.

That's fine if that was what was said. However, that blog asserts there was no hold. There clearly was.

However, when the replay was shown, there was no foul to be seen, only good acting.I'm sorry, but I'm sick to death of crybaby assholes who can't man up when the team they want to win doesn't.

THANK YOU for that picture. Did anyone have to listen to Trent Dilfer's dumb ass trying to argue with Merill Hoge that it should've been a no-call?

Penalties:

Steelers: 9 for 93 yards

Ravens: 6 for 74 yards

Yup, the refs handed us another one. :coffee:
