Pittsburgh Steelers (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/pit/) veteran wide receiver Hines Ward loves to play the villain.

And he gloated a little bit after the Steelers' 31-24 AFC divisional playoff victory at Heinz Field, rubbing some salt in the Baltimore Ravens (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/bal/)' wounds.

"They always pride themselves on bullying guys, bullying people," Ward said. "They always do all the trash-talking. They have been trash-talking all week, how they want to break Ben's nose again and stuff like that. Sometimes when you are fighting the bully, you just have to hit them in the mouth and you shut them up.

"To come back the way we did, the way we fought throughout the whole game, speaks volumes about our team, what we are made of and what type of character we are. It was a great win for our organization."

It got ugly between two fierce rivals Saturday night.

Ward slammed free safety Ed Reed (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/5910/)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/5910/news) to the ground in the first quarter and was penalized for unnecessary roughness.

Ward said he was outnumbered and defending himself.

"I got a roughness call and I had four guys beating me up," Ward said . "I love it. That's what it is all about. Ed Reed and I have our battles, no disrespect to Ed. He probably thinks it's a little personal, but it's playoffs. Loser goes home. So why sit there and save it? I am going to go out there and fight, scratch, and claw to win a ballgame."

Ward has a long history of abusing the Ravens...................

For those of you who were not there, this season is beginning to resemble the 1970s and I don't mean because of the rising gas prices and inflation. The greatest team in the history of the NFL did not win every game and had some very close games including Super Bowl victories. But they found ways to win especially in the latter part of the team's development with Bradshaw to Swann & Stallworth backed up by a punishing defense.

Now you have "Jack Lambert" as the toughest WR to ever play and Mike Wallace with two rookies WRs to replace Swannie and Johnny. Harrison is more like Joe Greene and Polamalu is Jack Ham if he would have played S. Even Mendy looked like Franco with the run up the middle just short of the EZ. Time for Redman to get some touches too.

I love it! Hines made Ed Reed his bitch all day and poor little Ed cried. That personal foul penalty on Hines was pure BS. Hines made a great (and clean) block on Reed, flattening him on his back and Reed was grabbing and pulling on Hines' facemask after the whistle. If anything, it should have been a personal foul on Reed.

The NFL will never flag somebody for hitting Hines or Ben. Hines has a rep as a tough guy and was labeled dirty by a small group of sore losers types, bengals and rats to name a few.

Hines also has swan and stallworth's records all except one. Superbowl rings!!! Come on Hines get that one too!!!
