I wouldn't judge Ed Reed by his brothers actions. My brother is a convict always getting in trouble with the police but I'd hope people judge me for me and not my brothers actions.

Man, I feel awful for him (Ed Reed).
Remember Super Bowl XL? Tyrone Carter's brother went to the playoff games instead of reporting for his 6 month sentence, and got an additional 3 1/2 years added to it. Your family does strange stuff, but you can't do anything about it.

This is not good, in a lot of respects. Reed's mother is probably yanking her hair out.

This just does not sound good:
ST. CHARLES, La. – St. Charles Parish deputies are searching for the brother of NFL safety Ed Reed, who according to his family jumped into the Mississippi River while trying to elude police.
It’s a sad situation Friday night, as family members gather on the levee, waiting for the man to resurface.
Deputies said they they watched the man go under the water and disappear in the cold Mississippi.
St. Charles Parish deputies and East Jefferson Levee Board police spent the day waiting and watching on the banks of the Mississippi River.
They say a St. Rose man, identified by family members as 29-year old Brian Reed, jumped in the Mississippi River near the Kenner – St. Charles parish line.
“The suspect jumped into the river, went about 15 feet according to the deputy,” said Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange, a spokesman for the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office. “At some particular point they said he did witness hands and head come up and go under the water and never resurface again.”..........

Holy crap. How awful - I wouldn't wish that kind of thing on anybody. The game is trivial in comparison, but the extra pressure and worry can't be easy to deal with. Jeez. Prayers for the Reed family, for sure.

Any word on why the police were chasing him?

This is sad. There's very little chance he survived. You do NOT mess with the Mississippi River. Not even Michael Phelps can swim in that current.
I think it started out as a traffic stop.

That's just what I was thinking. You would truly have to be desperate to do something like that.
Prayers for Ed Reed and his family going up.
That is so tragic. Like everyone else I am so empathetic towards an obviously hurting Ed Reed...and a bit indignant at his brother for allowing his life to cartwheel out of control to the point of breaking the hearts of his love ones.
Prayers for all.

I know. Reed is not his brother's keeper. I'm not blaming or judging Reed for his troubled brother at all. That's just wrong. Sorry if it came out like that.
Seeing as how he eluded police by jumping in a river, it reeks of the two D's. Desperate and Dangerous. Brian Reed seems to battling personal demons and appears to be in trouble.
Ed has a real heavy heart playing despite the issues with his brother. I hope for his sake he's alright.
