Wonder what happened with Retkofsky. Going to see an injury settlement? Got in trouble? Just didn't look good?

So we cut a long snapper... only to sign another one? Hmm...

Well if he makes the team over Warren, we can test tony's "New Long Snapper=Super Bowl" theory. :chuckle:

Steelers Cut Long Snapper Jared Retkofsky

Posted by Matt Loede on June 7th, 2010 in News (http://www.steelersgab.com/category/news/), Roster Moves (http://www.steelersgab.com/category/roster-moves/)
The Steelers today released long snapper Jared Retkofsky, according to a league source. Retkofsky was placed on waivers late last week.
The 6-foot-5, 260-pound former Texas Christian player played in 11 games over the past two seasons. He was previously on the Seahawks practice squad. Retkofsky filled in last season when Greg Warren got hurt.

Well if he makes the team over Warren, we can test tony's "New Long Snapper=Super Bowl" theory. :chuckle:its real. there was a tiny panic when we cut our longtime longsnapper mike schneck back in 2005 (by then, according to his veteran status and tenure he cost over $600,000/ year).

we saved about $400,000 (which helped get under the cap) by signing udfa greg warren for absolute league minimum.

Clearly you underestimate the positive effect an All-Pro long snapper has on the team

I thought the same thing, Wallace and Galax! Jesus, Chidi! It's too early in the morning and I haven't had any coffee yet! Good thing too, it might be all over my computer screen now.

I thought the same thing also. The offseason signings this year have been so uncharacteristic that the idea of signing Kordell actually seemed possible when seeing this thread title. Now if you;ll excuse me, I have to get the toilet paper. I think I soiled myself.

As long as we don't call this long snapper "Slash", I think we will be all good.

Ha, I didn't even think about that. My apologies for the heart attacks I caused.

Call me , but I don't think we'll see our long snapper running deep down the sidelines for a Big Ben bomb.

Well, they wouldn't expect it... :nervous:

...yeah, I don't think we have to worry about that either.

Hmmm he's an LB who can long snap...maybe he can teach the other LBs how to do it right, hahah. I always liked Retkofsky though...i had a feelin we'd keep him and dump Warren (who keeps gettin hurt)...but there went that idea (for now).

And so did we similarly cut or sign someone in 2008?

Haha, i guess you dont remember the giants game and Harrison's epic long snap :toofunny:. Yeah, Warren wrecked his ACL when he was running downfield and we signed Retkofsky soon afterwards.

Warren or Stewart at LS. One is a former LB who is trying to reinvent himself and the other keeps getting hurt. I think Jared will be back soon.

Um, it says in the article that he was a core special teams player for the falcons and browns + he was considered one of the best long snappers in his draft class

Ah! Gotcha... I was thinking Tony meant in the preceding off-season.
