Its amazing , the Steelers score and they either give up a great kickoff and/or a score . ALWAYS !

Our coverage units were awful today. Beyond awful, it was putrid. Single biggest reason we lost the game today was because we couldn't cover a kick to save our ass.

Punt and kick returns were consistently getting to the Mid 30's after the kick return TD :(

It seems like every punt against us ends up in the 5 or 10 yard line. And every punt we kick goes into the endzone for a touchback or gets returned 20 yards. As usual, the kickoffs sucked. Jets Offense had great field position all game. It's driving me nuts.
Props to the offense for putting together 85+ yard drives all game.

Yep. Punts and kickoffs were poor also.

The best rememdy for a struggling offense like the Jets are short fields or not having to go out on offense at all when your return man takes it to the house.

well, d-sep is a master at getting the ball inside the 10...with the injury that hurts our punt game tremendously.
the kickoff coverage is reverting back to 09 form...either get the right guys on the field, or get work on the coverage twice as much!

Special teams made it all too easy for them.

The "short bus" teams have been terrible for about 6 weeks. A new kicker didn't solve that riddle. I also don't think Sep is actually that good at dropping them in short fields, or our guys aren't any good at getting down there. I havn't studied any stats, but I watch a lot of ball (stayed at a holiday inn express once too). There are only a few kickers in the league that consistently drop them at the 5 and boom them when needed, I would really like the Steelers to have one. Seems like no matter how much we talk about them getting better, better coach, better gunners, better kickers every year they return to form and become what we thought they were , BAD.
We will not beat many playoff teams giving up short fields all game.

Well, if they could cover a kick worth a damn, they wouldn't have to worry about pooch/squib kicks to the 20 yard line. The fact that it keeps being done means there is zero confidence in the ability of the coverage units. And they're using a punter they picked up off the street. He can be forgiven if he isn't exactly Ray Guy.

I don't really have any particular problems with our new kicker, but I would have much rather given Jeff Feagles a call. He doesn't punt it any farther, but he's consistent as hell and he can pooch punt it out of bounds inside the 20 (and frequently the 10) like nobody's business. Removes alls kinds stress and agitation when the other team doesn't get the chance to return the ball..

No doubt, you can't expect a kicker off the street to be great, but our STs were not playing that well before we got new kickers either.
