Woodley lays lumber on QBs

PITTSBURGH — “Steelers defense brings the Wood.”

That’s what a banner hanging at Heinz Field said Sunday. It was a prophetic tribute to LaMarr Woodley, the “other” outside linebacker.

With James Harrison getting so much notoriety for how well he’s played this season and for all the times he’s been fined by the NFL, Woodley has been somewhat flying under the radar.

But truth be told, Woodley has been playing very well. And in Sunday’s 23-7 win, he played his best game yet this season.

It seems like Harrison owns the first half of the season, and then, Woodley comes alive at the end of the season and during the playoff run. Not a bad way to finish out the season, with the WOOD being brought!

I know some of you may not be fans of Woodley's late season freezes, but it works. The dude steps it up when it counts. Down the home stretch into the playoffs, a time where Pittsburgh is going to need Defense.

I'll give you that. It's just frustrating why he doesn't make many impact plays earlier in the season.

Woodley and Harrison secretly agree to play "good cop bad cop" during the begining of the season, and Harrison makes all the plays and gets all the press, and then Woodley is forgotten about...as the good cop, then, BLAM!!!! they switch it on ya, just when you aren't ready. Harrison starts absorbing all the blocks like a good cop and Woodley starts stomping a mudhole in people's faces and starts making plays and doing karate kicks on ESPN Highlights!

Then they get ya again in the playoffs...when they both play BAD COP

YEAH!

He does a lot more than people realize. Going into last week's game he was 4th in the NFL in qb hurries. He also has improved in coverage, and has been used that way a lot more this year than in his first two seasons.

Rumor's of Woodley's demise have been greatly exxagerated.

I think we're all expecting big things from Big Wood this Sunday with Damien Woodey being out for the Jets.

It just seems like Woodley brings his best toward the end of the season. I hope he continues to get hot as the playoffs get closer.
