Quarterback Ben Roethlisbergerhttp://www.steelers.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.steelers.com/team/roster/ben-roethlisberger/54dda34e-9e43-4c57-9397-1143ddced5d6/) underwent surgery on Monday after suffering a broken nose against the Ravens, but he isn’t expected to miss any playing time.

Roethlisberger, who was scheduled to have the gauze removed on Tuesday, will take an extra precaution to protect the nose.

“The only adjustment is that he is going to probably wear a clear shield on his helmet to protect him from that standpoint,” said Coach Mike Tomlin. “I am sure there is going to be some level of discomfort. I don’t think it’s going to keep him out of football in any form or fashion.”

I can't blame him after seeing what that nose looked like.

I wonder how this might affect his vision if at all? Possible glare from the visor?

I figured he would be wearing a shield for the next game. I don't think the glare would be too bad.

I figured this. Even said it to my girlfriend.

Question: Would he still be able to wear this visor in the rain/snow? Or would the precipitation accumulate on the visor and limit his vision?

Might actually be beneficial in the rain. as the rain wouldn't get in his eyes.

Probably the same as motorcycle visors. Some are treated to be condensation-resistant. Plus, there are sprays you can use on the plastic. I figure the bigger problem will be glare and smudges.

I don't think it'll be a problem... a lot of players wear the visors on their helmets.

Hockey players wear them all the time-their called half-masks. They get foggy now and then if they are not properly treated. But that's from sitting in a bag for a week-instead of having an equipment manager take care of them.

It shouldn't be a problem at all.

Hopefully it won't affect his play maybe this is just a one week thing.

Forecast for the Burgh on Sunday. Chance of rain and snow. Temp in the 30's.

I'm sure the Steelers equipment guru will make sure that it is treated to avoid the possibility of glare or condensation. I'm sure Ben is pretty sore but we all know how tough he is and I have no doubt the visor won't affect his play one iota.

Maybe they can retrofit a heads up targeting display on the inside...

Not like his nose was in good shape before the hit either.

Ben switched helmets this season to help aginst concussions. I wonder if his old helmet would of allowed nagdas meathook to get through to his snoot.
