I'm sure this is just another "fake" injury to Ben the Drama Queen. :sarcasm:

On a serious note, this absolutely sucks.

It's basically the pinky toe and the bone that goes down from it.

Ben likely isn't going to play Sunday, knowing Tomlin, he might pull him at the last moment.

Get some painkillers and he'll be good to go.

Ouch. That hurts, especially when he tries to plant on that foot to throw the ball. Expect passes to sail on him on Sunday. My guess is that Ed Reed will get at least 1 pick, simply because of the injury.

I'm not a doctor, but here's what I found. Must be a stress fracture:

http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/lowerfx/g/fifthmetatarsal.htm

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9e/Gray268.png

It's the bone on the left running from the ankle to the base of the little toe.

Steelers: Ben's foot not broken

By: Mike Bires

Pittsburgh - The Steelers refuted a published report that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has a broken bone in his right foot.

Roethlisberger was injured this past Sunday in a win in Buffalo. The Steelers have been calling the injury a sprained foot.

In response to inquiries about Roethlisberger having a broken foot, Steelers spokesperson Dave Lockett said “There is no new fracture in Ben’s foot. Ben’s current injury is an aggravation of an old injury where scar tissue is present.” Read more: Steelers: Ben's foot not broken (http://www.timesonline.com/sports/sports_details/article/1373/2010/december/02/steelers-bens-foot-not-broken.html)

See you on the field and leading us to victory Sunday, Ben. ;)

If it's his pinky toe, he'll be fine. I broke that toe and it hurt like hell.....don't know how he managed to play on it ....dude is tough as nails. All they did for me is reset it (it was sticking out at a right angle...:horror:), tape it up and I was bowling on it a week later.

Bowling...football...no difference. :chuckle:

Steelers say no new fracture in Ben Roethlisberger's foot. Current injury is an aggravation of an old injury where scar tissue is present.

I just hope and pray that Ben will be okay to play on Sunday night.

I said it before and Ill say it again, Of course Ben is going to play and he is the toughest player out their, but is it worth losing him just to get a division lead or would resting him and if we lose Sunday have him 100% for the playoffs in the 6th seed?

I am not worried he will be ready to go Sunday and hopefully our line won't let him get killed.

This is exactly where my concerns are at this point. He's not going to be as mobile as he usually is and our OL needs to step up HUGE on Sunday.

The fifth metatarsal bone or the outside metatarsal on Roethlisberger's right foot is broken, the Post-Gazette has learned. It was a previous break that was re-injured in the first quarter of Sunday's game in Buffalo.

Steelers trainer John Norwig has retrofitted a football shoe with two metal plates to help protect the broken foot and also provide support. Once he steps out of his shoes, Roethlisberger limps heavily around the locker room.

As a coach of mine used to tell me whenever I broke or dislocated a finger, " Shake it off, you have nine others".

Agreed... i have sprained my right ankle really bad twice and both times the doc said I woulda been better off just breaking it, heals better with less problems in the future

With the Steelers weak O-line, I expect Ben to get out of the pocket often. HE RAN WITH THE BALL WELL LAST WEEK EVEN AFTER HE HURT HIS FOOT... look at the game video. He'll be fine... Ben will be Ben !

We all know Ben will be playing Sunday Night and, we just need the oline to protect so he does not get killed like mentioned in above post. Plus we all know the crap he took for not playing in last years game on the road so, I would expect Ben to be Ben but, maybe short drops quick slant passes. Maybe Wallace can break a couple of big ones to the house. For all of those people who always call Big a drama queen GET A LIFE! He is one tough football player.

On the night of Day 5 of an 8-day honeymoon, while ripped to the Nth degree, I jumped onto a chair while the DJ was playing Wipeout (appropo choice in retrospect). As the chair was on a tile floor, it left the immediate area, leaving me dangling in mid-air. I came down on the outboard side of my left foot, and as I landed, it sounded like a broomstick was snapped in half. I was sure I had broken it, and I screamed to my wife not to let the resort staff take me to a Jamaican hospital or they might amputate my foot! :chuckle:

That was in 1988. To this day I still have problems with it. Step on a small rock and have that foot start to roll and it hurts like hell. I wish to God I would have fractured it instead of severely spraining it.

By the way, the answer is yes. Yes, my wife was PISSED! :peep:

Agreed x100...two ankle sprains (right ankle - twice) and a mid-foot sprain (not all at the same time, btw)...they took forever to get better and I still have pain sometimes.

Offensive coordinator Bruce Arians said that Roethlisberger's injury should not curtail anything he does on the field in Baltimore.

Yeah, should not curtail... meaning BA plans on making absolutely no adjustments whether Ben is hurt or not. So it should not curtail anything, because if it does, we're fucked.

And no, I'm not trying to turn this into a bash BA thread, I'm not making this stuff up... seriously:

Offensive coordinator Bruce Arians said after practice Thursday that he won't alter the game plan because of Roethlisberger's ailing foot.

"He just has to know what he can do to protect himself, and I feel confident that he'll be fine that way," Arians said. "But we won't change or do anything differently."

And because a coach says something, it's truth?

Do you want Arians to say, "Yeah, we're going to do "X" and "Y" differently. You got all that Baltimore?"

Arians has no reason to speak the truth to the media.

Anything's possible I suppose, but so far when BA has said that he'll make absolutely no adjustments based on personnel changes and injuries, he's been fairly true to his word.

Other coaches say things like, "we'll make whatever adjustments are necessary to put us in the best position to win" all the time and I don't think it puts them at any strategical disadvantage. It sure hasn't hurt Belichick when he says it and actually follows through with it.

Like the the time last year when Ben was recovering froma concussion and he had Ben lunge into the pile headfirst on 3rd down.

I've broken toes and sprained my feet and ankles. Trust me- I'll take the break every time.

I've broke the bone going to the big toe and the bone going to the pinky toe. The pinky toe was not half as bad as the big toe. When I broke the bone to the big toe I could barely walk. The pinky toe was uncomfortable but I could still walk fine. But I have to agree a sprain is at times worse then a break, when it comes to pain and mobility. But they both hurt, nothing a shot can't cure. I just hope he does not injure it more then it already is.
