A Ravens player coming to the defense of a Steeler?

Terrell Suggs did just that Wednesday when he said Steelers outside linebacker James Harrison has been “red-flagged” by the NFL.

“If he breaths on a quarterback he might get a flag,” the Ravens outside linebacker said during a conference call with Pittsburgh reporters.................

They could at least keep the flag in their pocket so it's not so obvious.

Suggs oughta know, after he barely grazed Marcia's leg and got a flag.

If the flag was in their pocket, they wouldn't be able to find it with their heads up their ass.

Yep - this affects the Ravens too as they're just as physical as the Steelers are. I'm going to be pissed if the refs screw up what would otherwise be a great game Sunday night by throwing a flag after almost every damn play.

So how many players get fined after this game? :peep:

(sad that we even have to joke about this)

Of course it affects the two most physical teams in the NFL because all GODell cares about is big pass plays and less physical style football. Ass.

“I do think they’re looking at him more closely than” anyone else, Suggs said.

When asked about the penalties and fines that have been a product of the league’s emphasis on player safety, Suggs said, “I think they’re stupid and definitely favoritism to the offensive side of the ball.”

:applaudit: Suggs!

Suggs said two quarterbacks, in particular, receive preferential treatment from the NFL.

“The league has their favorites,” Suggs said, “one being in Indy, one being in that other team up north.”

Isn't it a pity that not only the fans clearly see the obvious favortism given by the NFL to Mr. "Can't Keep The Peter In His Pants" and Peytoon, but the players clearly see it too? :horror:

NFL - Wake the FUCK up!!!!

If this many people can see it then the players and owners should act over the offseason and get rid of Goodell.

Every single defensive player in the NFL needs to stand up and say the same thing. Otherwise this BS will continue to get worse until the NFL will be equivalent to Arena Football.

You know,

I usually almost always stand with owners in strikes and lockouts... mainly because it is my opinion that the owners are the one that risked the capital, they get the rewards. However, in this case, I am more and more starting to side with the players. This league is about NOTHING but MONEY anymore. If that is true, then the players should get as much as they can.

Why is this statement in this thread? Because it leads to my conclusion:

One of the things they should ask for in light of Harrison, seeing the preferential treatment, etc., is for Goodell to be removed. If they don't get that, then they should not negotiate.

Enough is enough.

What we need to see is more helmet-to-head contact.....with the officials.

I never thought I would see the day when a Raven stood up for a Steelers player. This to me is evidence enough to get a formal resignation from Goodell. Divisional rivals whom would benifit from James not being on the field standing up for him on in the media. This monumental. I really don't get how the league can let this continue. Trent Dilfer a former Qb even says he is sick of talking about fines and the latest Harrison hit was a text book form tackle. Hines said what I have been saying all season long. It's about money and a 18 game season, not player safety. The goon Goodell does have his favorites and they are the only ones the rules apply to. Ben almost got his leg twisted off last week, but no flag no fine. Had that been twinkle tits Brady or Peyton "sherriff" Manning no doubt in my mind there would have been a flag and a fine.

DAMN you Goodell. I could respect some of the Raven players, afterall they try to copy the Steelers style of football. But now you are making our enemies our closest friends. DAMN you Goodell. This is not the GFL (Goodell Football League), this is the National Football League (and in my case international). I have enjoyed many years of the NFL, but this year is beyond a joke now. Especially when my team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, sit in the cross hairs of your mission. DAMN you.

I don't care that he's defending Harrison, but when he says this, that's what really hits home for me: “I think they’re stupid and definitely favoritism to the offensive side of the ball.”

Terrell Suggs can’t bring himself to feel bad for anybody who plays for the Steelers, but the Pro Bowl linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens can’t help but feel that James Harrison is getting a raw deal from the NFL. Suggs said during today’s conference call with the Pittsburgh media that there has been injustice with Harrison when it comes to being fined by the league. “Your guy over there, 92, I think he is red-flagged,” Suggs said. “The referees are kind of looking for him. Even if he breathes on a quarterback wrong, he might get a flag.” Harrison has been fined $125,000 so far this season. “I think they are looking at him more closely than they are everybody else in the league,” Suggs said. “In the referee world, they kind of red-flagged him.” Suggs also went on to say that quarterbacks like New England’s Tom Brady and Indianapolis’ Peyton Manning get preferential treatment over other quarterbacks in the league. “The league has their favorites,” Suggs said. “One being in Indy and one being with that other team up north. Besides those two, everybody is fair game. Some quarterbacks are getting the calls right away. Some quarterbacks they don’t care.

I find it hard to blame the officials for this mess. Helmet-to-head contact with Goodell, now that is something I could get behind. Maybe when he pays a visit to Pittsburgh and demonstrates to Harrison what a legal tackle is.

That ref should be fined. Did you see the forearm go into the RBs head. In fact that looked a lot like one of the tackles James got fined for.

Suggs is a smart man. Show James you are on his side to keep him from playing with a passion against his team.

Smart players in the 70's did the same thing to Joe to keep him off his game, it sure can't hurt.

Not only that but Suggs, being a fellow LBer, doesn't want to get fined himself for similar hits.

I think it honestly has a lot to do with the BS penalties that have been called on Suggs for tackling the QB over the last few seasons.

In addition to grazing Tom Brady's knee, he's gotten in trouble for a "blow to the head" on more than one occasion for his hand touching the QB's shoulder pad. He also got a RtP call on a hit on Carson Palmer late in the Bengals game this season that was as blatant a bad call as I've ever seen.

Look, Goodell may set the tone and policy, but the refs enforce it. When a "blow to the head" of the QB is actually a graze to the back of the helmet, or on the shoulder pads, that's on the men in the striped shirts. Especially when it counts against Quarterback M or B, but no one else.

They should all issue a statement saying that any fines generated Sunday night will be distributed evenly (proportionate to their salaries) between all 106 players on both rosters.
