Steelers notes: Polamalu was key to win

PITTSBURGH —Ryan Fitzpatrick said two plays prevented the Bills from upsetting the Steelers. One was a pass that wasn’t caught. The other was a pass that was caught.

The Fitzpatrick pass that wasn’t caught was the drop by Buffalo wide receiver Steve Johnson in overtime Sunday on the Steelers’ 19-16 win. If Johnson makes that catch for a 40-yard touchdown, the Bills upset the Steelers 22-16.

But another pass thrown by Fitzpatrick wound up costing the Bills, too. That was the pass intercepted by Steelers strong safety Troy Polamalu deep in Pittsburgh territory late in the fourth quarter.

That interception was terrific, he also recovered a fumble that stopped another drive deep in Bills territory

This game was turning out to be just like last seasons pathetic losses to the Chiefs, Browns, and Raiders when Polumalu was not playing, but because of him and his INT he saved the game and gave the Steelers a chance to win.
