Well, what a treat for my son - first game and he got Big Hamp to come right over and give him his warm up gloves at the Bills game yesterday. My wife and I always liked the expression one announcer once used to describe him..."Arms like legs and legs like people" :) now my son has something really special to always remember his first game. Definitely a classy guy.

Now, to go one step further, does anyone have an idea how I might go about getting Casey to sign them? I would love to get them signed if at all possible (my wife and I were in awe when he came over so weren't fast enough with a pen)

Anyone with an "in" that would send me a PM would be really appreciated.

Mark

PS - my wife was also in a clip on CBS coming back from 1/2 time waving her towel in support of the team. What a day!!!

Well, after a little digging for pictures, I have another thing which my son got that we will also cherish. Unfortunately (and also a tad embarrassing) we didn't recognize Mr Rooney Jr when he came up to us in the stands (we were row 1 by the tunnel) in pregame and gave my son a Steelers Pin. He was very unassuming, just said here you go little guy and then went into the tunnel. I did notice as he handed my son the pin that he had a #6 superbowl ring on his hand, so went searching for "front office personnel" pictures. Imagine my surprise when I realized who it was...

A classy organization like no other - still "for the people" and not above mingling with the masses.

That is simply amazing! You should feel very fortunate! What class by him, he does not have to do things like that at all.

Here is another place to keep an eye on. During the off season there are usually 2 signings in Chantilly, VA and a lot of current Steelers go to do signings. I know Casey has been there in the past. That would be a nice trip for ya... They usually have the first one in March/April..

As far as getting a glove signed...the one bad thing about the mailing addy to the Steelers that someone mentioned...is that there is NO guarantee the play will sign and return the item...so there is a slim chance you are risking loosing a glove by doing so. However most players I've heard are pretty good at signing things and getting them back, however it could take a while in some cases (especially during the season).

Besides looking for different Steeler appearances throughout the year the only other option I can think of is training camp...but there is no guarantee there either. Not all players sign and not all sign every day. I've gotten Casey's autograph from camp myself, but again its one of those things hoping you get him and such. However there is the one Friday night practice at Latrobe HS that ALL players are required to sign for like 20 minutes before practice...you may be able to watch where he goes to sign and go there...that could be your best chance.

Just send it to the stadium with a letter explaining the context and the date of the encounter. A few years back, my friend was in the end zone and had Hines hand him a football. He mailed it to the stadium and asked for an autograph, and they shipped it back. MAKE SURE TO SHIP IT WITH A BOX WITH YOUR RETURN ADDRESS AND POSTAGE!!!

Love to hear stories like that. Manny Sanders had a Q & A session with Prok? this past summer which was cool.
