View Full Version : Steelers v. Bills - Who Gets YOUR Game Ball (and Game Goats?)

I have several game balls to award. Suisham obviously for kicking 4 FG's of 40+ yards and the game winner. Ben for his great play all the way around, though his stats don't really show how well he played. Mendy for keeping those legs moving all day long. Hines for the clutch catches he made and YES - BA for calling a great game. Have to add Troy in there for sure - his ass was on fire today and he saved us several times! :applaudit:

Game goats - our OL. Their damned penalties cost us in key situation many times when we were on the move. I have to give a quarter of the Game Goat to the Steelers D who came close to shitting the bed again.

Stevie Johnson. Thanks for dropping the game-winning TD!

Game goat - OL. 6 holding penalties, 4 of which wiped out big plays including the catch by Sanders that would have ended the game in regulation. Pathetic.

I have three- Memo for moving the chains every time we needed it, Troy for his saving INT and overall beastliness, and Sushi for being the hero

I'd like to give one to Mendy, but I can't due to the fumble which gave the Bills points. Guess I'd have to go with Suisham.

Game goat: OL

Talk about pulling one out of our ass.
Just pathetic in the area of mental errors----waaaaaay too many penalties

Troy kept us alive

Suisham gets the game ball

Gay and Madison have to go-----

Thankfully Johnson was their Goat...

Baltimore will crush us if we don't get our shit together in the next 48-72 hours.

Have too many Balls so giving out 3! Memo for being clutch on a couple of big 3rd downs, Mendy for running for over 152 yards and setting the tone early, and of course last, but not least Sushi for the 4 FG's that were all over 40+ yards and 1 a game winner.

Goat- OL and mostly Kemo.

Game Balls:

Suisham - Obvious Reasons
Polamalu - Great game from him. He came up huge when the game was on the line.
Mendenhall - Terrific game from him.

Goats:
Kemoeatu - I think there were 4 penalties against him today. And the one at the end of the 4th Quarter called back a play that would have sealed the deal.

Game Ball- Suisham, Mendenhall, Redman

Game Goats- Defense and Offense for falling asleep after going up 13-0, especially the Offensive Line.

Overall, I pretty much got what I expected this week. Steelers struggle on road to a subpar team and escape/probably lose. I'm not surprised or upset over it. It's just who they are. Can't be displeased with 8-3, though.

DAMN did we get lucky on this game.

Game Ball: Suisham. He scored 13 of our 19 points, so why not? His 1st game having an opportunity to kick field goals and he nails all 4 of them from 45, 46, 48, and the game winning 41 yarder. That is a clutch performance by that son of a gun!

Game Goat: The O-line, especially Kemoeatu and Scott. Kemo I can kind of understand, because he's going up against one of the best interior linemen in the league (Pouncey had trouble against him to, and rightfully so). Scott had a tough assignment against Stroud also, but seriously you guys, stop shooting us in the foot with those damn penalties! Those penalties turned 2 TD drives into 2 field goals!

I can't give the gameball to Ben because he fizzled out in the 2nd half after a strong 1st half showing. The same goes with Mendenhall, strong 1st half, weak 2nd half. He really turned it up in OT though, but hey, situationally, the two weren't very good in the 2nd half.

Gotta agree with HTG

Suisham, Troy,

Big time GOAT O-line but will throw in they are pretty banged up but those damn penalties damn near killed us today. Very little push on run plays thank goodness Mendy was able to make the most of his runs by bouncing them to the outside.

We didn't get many breaks bounce our way but the dropped pass was huge. Thank the football Gods for that.

Wish we coulda got to big blow out wins in a row but I'll take the win all the same.

Sweeeeeeeeezum!!! And just for the record, we listened to the Buffalo broadcast on XM until we got home for the last 40 seconds of regulation. One of their announcerscould never pronounce Kemoeatu right. :chuckle:

Game ball: Mendy - Awesome when he needed to be (great players arent always great - they are great when they need to be)

Honorable Mention: Troy - Flying around making plays

Yeah the O-line needs help. However, lets not forget that they line is comprised of back-ups, a rookie and an old fogey (Adams)and but 1 starter from last year. trouble with communication? trouble w/ continuity? of course! However, I think that they played o.k. given the time they've all spent together. That being said . . . we need to build upon our run success in OT.

Good win today against a pretty o.k. team

Game ball - Suisham (duh)

Goat- Kemo.

Not the OL as a whole, by the way. Just him. I think all but one of the holding calls were on him, plus he was just getting his ass kicked all day long. The rest of the OL wasn't great, but at least they were passable. I don't care who he was going up against; Kemo just had a stink bomb of a game.

Game Ball to Suisham and Troy-they were clutch when we needed it

Game Ball: Ben and Sweeezum

Goat: O'line. With one caveat. There were some holes to run behind particularly behind the "house." Still, injuries yes, but we have to play better on the interior or Haloti Ngata going to rip us to shreds next week. And it is time to let Essex start at LT. He is better in pass protection.

It's not that the OL is undisciplined. That would be evident with plenty of offsides penalties. They just aren't very good and got beat like a drum by the friggen Bills.

Polamalu uses his legs, the OL has no legs.

Suisham would get my game ball. He's starting to gain my support and confidence. Other nominees would be Mendy and Troy. Mendy had a big game on the ground today and Troy came in when we needed him.

I've supported this O-line enough and I'm starting to lose my patience with them. They have hurt us so much, its not even funny. I love Pouncey and think he's an amazing player. He was great pick up in the draft. I also miss Max out there as well. I say when it comes to the draft, we draft the best guard or tackle in the draft and use that person at their natural position.

One more thing, kudos to Fitzpatrick and the rest of the Bills. You guys played great in the second half and nearly beat us. You guys are highly underrated and I've gained respect for Fitzpatrick and the rest of you guys. You guys didn't quit. You guys can really build upon something here for the future.

Suisham gets the game ball. Absolutely fantastic.

Craic
11-28-2010, 08:42 PM
No, we got VERY VERY lucky this week!

However, Game Ball: Yes, Suisham. He absolutely gets it.

Game Ball 2: Mendy-- he kinda disappeared in the second half for a while. Got stacked up quite a few times. However, in OT, he took control of the game.
Game Ball Assist: Redman. That kid is HUNGRY. Did you see him run? He had suddenness and glide! :chuckle:
Showed up at just the right time game ball: Ben R. The second half actually reminded me of SB 40. He started not playing as well. So, he takes control of the game another way... he starts running for the first down.

Game Goat: Refs. I am sorry. But how in the world do you call Harrison for that penalty on the sack- and then NOT call a penalty when Ben is folded up like a pretzel, hurting his knee. How do you call holding on our offensive line for just having a hand around the guy.. then not call the MUGGING on our LB's? Now, if we lost that game... It would have been OUR fault. But that doesn't negate the horrible reffing. So I don't consider the O line as goats.

Game Goat 2: Pass defense. More and more, I am coming to believe that the problem is our scheme. Spread them out and throw wherever you want. It really is starting to remind me of the 2001 season.

Game Goat 3: Steven Johnson. Yes, I know, he doesn't play for us. But when you drop a TD pass in OT... you deserve mention here.

I'm certainly not going to argue that the O-line played well or anything, but the blame for some of that needs to be spread around a little bit more. I saw a lot of this: Ben pumps, pumps, moves a bit, pumps again, followed by either a sack or a hold. You CAN NOT ask this patchwork line to pass protect for 6 plus seconds and expect any other result. Either it's playcalling that involves slow developing plays, receivers failing to get separation, or Ben failing to go through his progressions fast enough. My guess is that it was some of everything.

When your OC goes on the record saying that he will not change the game plan based on who he has playing on the O-line, well, it isn't exactly confidence inspiring. But Ben needs to be smarter too. He has to know that this group just can not protect for that long without holding. As much as I love to see him extend plays, he has to either escape the pocket or get rid of it on the second pump. He just can't keep doing this and expect things to go well.
