The Steelers are dealing with yet ANOTHER injury, and this time it’s to the wild man of the defense, Troy Polamalu, who has a strained right Achilles tendon..

Ed Bouchette of the Post-Gazette says that the ailment is “potentially bothersome.” Coach Mike Tomlin said the team is “probably going to slow (Polamalu) down here in the early portions of the week… with an eye toward practicing in the latter part of the week.”............

Raiders receivers are pure speed. If Troy is out come game time i dunno. Big Ben stays winless vs the Oakland Raiders.

I've yet to see anything else on the internet about it.

I have a feeling this isn't a new injury. He hasn't been right since the second game.

I just saw it on ESPN's website.

To be fair, the whole team hasn't been right since the Cleveland game. Even since Ben returned, we've been slow and lethargic. Our Offense was bad in the first three games, understandably, but after Ben came back, our 2009 offense returned. Still horribly inconsistent. Still bad in the red zone. Still unable to handle heavy blitzes or sustain critical drives. Still terrible gameplan and playcalling.

I'm afraid we've gotten the most we're going to get out of this veteran squad. Super Bowl XLIII was the last hurrah of the 2000's teams. I hope I'm wrong.

A good handful of these guys are getting old and don't have the stuff to last a full season anymore. Jeff Reed was the first casualty. This unfortunately includes Polamalu. His reckless play is coming back to bite him. The up and coming Raiders have to be licking their chops. They're coming off a bye and facing a Steelers team that is showing signs of breaking down all over again. They'd love to torch Pittsburgh through the air with Ford and Murphy after seeing what New England did to them.

Until I see something, we're staring at 2009 collapse: The 2010 Steelers edition.

Yep. A lot of people have been wondering why he's been noticeably absent and ineffective. That would explain it.

So let's see ... We started off 6-2, then lost a game, Smith is hurt, Troy is hurt, O-line is banged up ... I've seen this movie before. :director: THE ENDING SUCKS!

We need everyone, and I mean EVERYONE ... coaches and players ... to start stepping up Sunday. Period.

Certainly doesn't help with the confidence factor with regards to the rest of the season. :pout:

One step away from a tear.

They need to be REALLY careful with how they handle his workload in practice.

No, it doesn't. But last season should have prepared them for how to play without Smith and/or Troy. Now is the time for the coaches and the rest of the team to prove themselves. Let's see what they can do. :tt02:

Makes perfect sense now why Polumalu has been almost non apparent since the second game of the season and on. I always though maybe it was an injury, but I kept it to myself.

Personally, I thought they were using him more as a true safety to cover for the ineptitude of the cornerbacks. Troy isn't as effective as a true safety, but if he's been injured, then that explains a lot.
