Is it a coincidence that the Steelers defense is best when it faces a team that run's more than it passes until it falls behind, prefers the long ball to short and intermediate routes , and of course has their qb take the obligitory 5 and 7 step drops that go hand in glove with the longer routes?

Perhaps offensively if we looked to exploit our own defensive defecencies in practice it might work to everyone's advantage?

The way it is now, it's almost as if our defense is like a karate student, as long as you grab him the right way he'll flip your ass every time. But unfortunatelly when the mugger doesn't approach you the way you were taught to defend, your ass usually gets handed to you.

I'd say it's safe to say the Steelers need to evolve both offensively and defensively if they're going to do anything more than beat up on bottom feeders going foward. I'd also say both coordinaters need to show a willingness and ability to adapt, failure to do so and both their jobs should be closely evaluated at the end of the season.
