The Cincinnati Bengals (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/cin/cincinnati-bengals) made their choice of who will replace injured kicker Mike Nugent (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=8461) for the remainder of the season -- and it's not Jeff Reed (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=4399).

Instead, Cincinnati (2-7) goes with another Ohio State alum in Aaron Pettrey, who was signed by the team (http://twitter.com/joereedy/status/4615134458683392) Tuesday. On the same day, the Pittsburgh Steelers (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/pit/pittsburgh-steelers) made Reed available after cutting the veteran (http://espn.go.com/blog/afcnorth/post/_/id/20580/reports-steelers-cut-k-jeff-reed) and signing Shaun Suisham (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=9361).

Pettrey, an undrafted rookie, will make his NFL debut Sunday against the Buffalo Bills (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/buf/buffalo-bills) (1-8).

Personally, I'm relieved. I still think Jeff will do very well for a few years elsewhere. I just didn't want it to be in the AFC North.

"@joereedy (http://twitter.com/joereedy): The combine scouting report on kicker Aaron Pettrey--great on kickoffs, inconsistent on field goals."--Um, ok. #Bengals (http://twitter.com/#!/search?q=%23Bengals)

Same! I'm really glad they passed on him. I think it's a dumb move on their part, but we'll see.

Woo thank God, but would love to see Reed somewhere soon being successful(As long as it's not against the Steelers)

Reed will end up with the 49ers. Mark it down.

Arizona. Pittsburgh west. If not, it's Arians fault.

Not so fast...I don't normally like to quote asshole Florio, but he might be onto something here...

Bengals add a kicker with no NFL experience (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/11/16/bengals-add-a-kicker-with-no-nfl-experience/)

With (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/11/16/bengals-add-a-kicker-with-no-nfl-experience/)Mike Nugent (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3160) scratched for the balance of the year (yeah, I went with the obvious Chris Berman-style reference), the Bengals need a kicker. On Tuesday, they signed one. (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/11/16/bengals-add-a-kicker-with-no-nfl-experience/)

He’s Aaron Pettrey (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=6124), an undrafted rookie who was cut by the Panthers in June and the Lions in August. He has no regular-season experience. But he has kicked in one preseason game. (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/11/16/bengals-add-a-kicker-with-no-nfl-experience/)

In our view, the move is aimed at tiding the Bengals over until Wednesday afternoon, in the event that former Steelers kicker Jeff Reed clears waivers. If they had signed someone with experience and thereafter signed Reed, the Bengals would have owed a much bigger paycheck to the guy who would have been cut after only a couple of days on the roster.

Either way, we can’t imagine Pettrey kicking for the Bengals in Week 11. Our guess is that, if they don’t sign Reed, the Bengals will bring in a veteran with game experience. Regular-season game experience.

I am starting to wonder if Reed is hurt and just hasn't told anyone.
