CINCINNATI -- NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Pittsburgh Steelers Pro Bowl linebacker James Harrison is working to alter his game.

Harrison
Goodell met briefly with the media during an ESPN-sponsored event leading into the "Monday Night Football" matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2) and Cincinnati Bengals (2-5). Goodell also met with Harrison last week to discuss his string of fines this season.

Harrison has become the poster child this year for the NFL's increased policing of big hits and player safety. The former defensive player of the year has been fined a total of $100,000 this season for big hits on opposing players..........

... and he'd prefer to not get fined while doing so.

He doesn't have a choice any more, but to comply. At this point he has a huge target on his chest saying "watch my every move and hit." It's sad that Harrison has to down grade and play at a lesser state for this pussy league.

I think one of the things he's frustrated by is when the offensive player is moving. And when the offensive player is moving, how do I, as a defensive player, adjust?"

Goodell said that is something the league's competition committee will continue to discuss in the offseason.

So we're going to hamstring the defensive players immediately without thinking about the physics behind motion and how it relates to impacts.

Forget 'Der Kommish' I say we go with Commissioner Idiotall!

Which rules are being enforced this week and which ones next week? How do you tackle without hitting?

He's supposed to ask the ballcarrier to kindly fall down.

Who exactly is altering the game? Goodell, you change the rules midseason, or at least the enforcement of the rules. You fine the ass off of Harrison, and now you hold him as a poster boy because he is altering his game. SHAME ON YOU!!!!! Harrison did not need any game adjustment. He obviously has 2 body parts that you don't have, cahoonies.

The way you randomly pick some plays as vicious and let other, worse plays go, is causing too much confusion. Just like the holding penalty is not consistently called, your officiating of these hits is even worse.

Something to note: The hit that got Harrison that $75K fine involved the ball carrier lowering HIS head to protect himself just as what happened in the Eagles-Colts game where their excuse for not levying a fine was "the ball carrier lowered his head."
