this is just a conversation piece to indulge us until monday night football.

"pouncey for ndamukong suh" would you do it?

i would do it. IMO, it looks like pouncey is going to be good, but i think suh is going to be devastatingly good. like reggie white/mean joe greene devastating.

i am content with pouncey too. by next year he will be the steelers best O-lineman if not already the best.

I haven't seen enough of Suh to say either way, personally. I don't catch many Lions games. I know he's made some big plays, but how does he look the other 50-60 snaps he's on the field for?

If we ran a 4-3 I would do it in a heartbeat. That guy is a monster. He has like 7 sacks! As a DT! and he is a rookie!! But we run a 3-4 and I'm not sure how he would play in it. But hell I would still do it!!

No. great lineman are hard to find (centers especially) and Pouncey is exactly what we need to help make the guys around him step their game up. IMO

No we really needed him and i am glad he was still there when we picked it seems like the past few years we have been 1 to 3 picks high to get the Olineman we wanted.

Pouncey would suffice.

No. On a team that could use all the good line man it can find I will take Pouncey at center any day. The Steelers always know how to pick good D line and LB's in the draft and our depth is much deeper as well.

Probably not. Suh is the better player but doesn't fit our scheme very well.

I value loyalty and we have a great player in Pouncy, I'd keep him.

Pouncey all the way. Also not sure where Suh would fit in a 3-4...with his size...6'4" 307lbs...he could play NT or DE...but again not sure where he would fit best at. But yeah Pouncey is the man!

No. I think we as a team at this time need Pouncey a lot more than Suh. That's not saying Suh isn't great.

The question is....

Can Pouncey kick extra points?

Spot on Sal. :drink: Considering the state of our OL before this season, and though I believe our OL to still be sub-standard, I'm happy as hell to have him. He's really the only consistent guy on that line this season imho.

Suh is not a 3-4 defensive lineman. I don't think we are going to change our whole system for one rookie player. So, I will stick with Pouncy.

I say no way. Our offensive line hasn't had an anchor on for some time now. And we all know that is the key to a succesful offense.

No way. Pouncey is a good foundation of building a respectable O line again. Would gladly trade Arians.

I think that OC is one of the hardest positions to step into and start as a rookie, and Maurkice is doing an extremal good job at it. Where as D-line IMO is much easier to make an impact as a rookie. I will stick with what we have.

I don't know what's worse - Suh as a kicker or James Harrison as a long snapper :chuckle:

Yep exactly what I am thinking as well.

No. Suh doesn't fit our D and we need a center much worse.

No. Pouncey turned out to be awesome. It's a sure thing; don't fuck with it.

I do think that Suh is so good, he could play in either a 4-3 or a 3-4 no problem. Hopefully we do something to help our D-line this next offseason, assuming there's a season in 2011. If not, we could be really screwed anyway by the time we come back for 2012.

Could we trade Suh for draft picks and some offensive linemen? :P

From what I have seen I would keep Pouncey we need to start building around him for the future.

If you are building a team from scratch - yes.

If you are looking specifically at the 2010 Steelers and beyond and their team needs - no.

This is a team sport and like Knute Rockne said, you need your best 11 players - not your 11 best players.

... unless you're playing Madden - or playing GM for the Cowboys.
