In game 1 Rashard Mendenhall scored a TD in OT to beat Atlanta. Game over - no other play.

In game 2 Antonio Brown runs back opening game kickoff from Titans for a TD.

How rare is this feat - 2 players from same team scores TD in 2 successive plays?

Rule out all non over-time games as an extra point attempt is an extra play. I do not see it ever happening except in OT/regular season game situation as above.

Does anyone know if anyone has researched this since the plays occurred or where it could be researched?

Good question - I never even considered that, but it's pretty cool - two Steelers did score TDs on successive plays. Going to have to do some research on that one.

I already looked at the records section at nfl.com and no such catagory for successive TDs. I sent them an email about this but no reply as of yet. I hope you can find out if this was a first or not.

Unless there was a TD, forced fumble returned for touchdown on ensuing touchdown at some point.

I have no doubt that anything could happen. If it didn't,there still is a chance it could. The times they are a changin.

Didn't Bam Morrison let a kick off roll into the endzone, and the other team cover it for a TD a few years back. Was that after a score?

Wasn't that Barry Foster? Against the 49ers I think.

I think your right, it was Foster. Can anyone remember if that was after a score?

doesn't matter. the criteria was 2 consecutive plays for a TD. If the TD comes during a game, there will be an Xpoint try, and that constitutes a play. The only way it CAN happen is a TD in OT, then a TD on the opening KO of the next game.

You are correct a TD in consecutive plays by the SAME team. No play between them like an extra point/2 point try.

It was Barry Foster as noted above and it was in a game in Oct, 1990. But the kicker is that it gave me a memory flashback.

I was in Florida in a hotel at Disney World. We were getting ready to go out to the swiming pool when I saw the replay on TV.

Funny how someone can mention something that happened years ago and it is a memory flashback. At times I can not remember things from 5 minutes ago ... lol

That happens when we get over the 40 year hump....some of us sooner than that.

Just looked it up. That was 1990 season @ SF. Their previous game was against the Falcons (5 TDs for Jerry Rice), but Atlanta scored last. Wasn't an OT game anyway.
