President Obama, reacting to his party's historic losses in Congress on Election Day, said Wednesday that he's "absolutely" willing to negotiate on the issue.
Oh, so NOW he's ready to negotiate. I'm sure all the Dems who lost their seats are pleased to hear this. :chuckle:

Even better: The Republicans are showing signs of their intent to block raising the debt ceiling. That will force all sorts of spending cuts, including de-funding Obamacare.

Perfect, so when 2012 comes around the Republicans will negate everything Obama has done so their platform can be ''Obama has done nothing for 4 years''

What has he really done besides pass a healthcare bill that nobody wants. Other than trying to "negate" that, all the republicans are trying to do now is what the Dems in power wouldnt do.

He passed that bill for Equal pay for women...or something like that. I can hardly remember. I was too mesmerized by his Satellite shaped head.

Actually, I think the platform will be more based on what they stopped Obama from doing.
/good thing, too IMO

Obamacare isn't going anywhere ladies and gentlemen. I can't begin to imagine how much of a gold mine Obamacare is for the Health Insurance industry.

That's another platform plank for the Republicans.
/Thanks for reminding me :D

the health Insurance agencies that have a boatload of Democrats in their pocket, and a bigger boatlload of Republicans in their pocket.

It's UNCONSTITUTIONAL and once the court says it is there's not a damn thing obaaama can do about it.

You need car insurance only if you choose to drive. No one, including the government, is forcing you to drive. :noidea:

I see your point, but IMO that's a complete copout-answer (not coming from you, but from politicians). If you live where I grew up and you don't drive, I wouldn't expect you to be able to go to post-secondary school or get a job. That is, without having 4 hours to walk or 2 hours to ride a bike or 30 minutes to walk to a bus that will take you a half hour walk from where you need to be. Having a car is almost a bare nescessity.

I don't disagree with you. For most people, myself included, a car IS a necessity. But there are other forms of transportation ... someone can drive you, public transportation, etc. When you turn 16, the government doesn't say, "OK, now you WILL drive, and you WILL purchase auto insurance." Although driving is a necessity in most cases, it isn't mandated by the government.

Exactly!

apples and oranges (which is kind of an odd saying seeing that they are both fruits)...anyway, comparing the two, health insurance and car insurance, doesnt work. There is no law saying you HAVE to drive a car. I agree with WH and Wally that it may be a necessity in some places, but definitely not mandatory.

EDIT: I just re-read this post and realized I did nothing but repeat everything Wally already said

that is the major difference. it is not mandated by the government. once the government mandates one thing, they can mandate many other things, if they deem it in the "public good." phones are almost a necessity, but not mandated. some would say either radio or tv is a necessity (emergency announcements and such), not mandated. although it is a bit silly, but along the same vein of thought, clothes are a necessity (i.e. cited for public nudity), but not mandated. once this starts, it leads to many other areas. Nutrition, no smoking, no alcohol, etc. Because these will affect personal and overall societal health, which affects health insurance.

This is what I ask every Demo who still tries to find ways to defend Obaaaaaaaaama. What the hell has he done except screw up the country even more than it already was? Amazing that they never have an answer and try the deflect and spin move which never flies with me. :heh: Plain and simple - the guy was way out of his league when he ran for the Presidency and should never have gotten past first base.

No surprise that he is going to once again flip-flop and contemplate going with a Bush administration policy. :jerkit:

GWB is going to look like a Mensa scholar compared to this dunderhead by the time Obamie's one and done administration is over.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, after watching Republicans pick up six seats in the Senate, also suggested he's willing to budge on the tax cuts, though he said a permanent extension for everybody "won't happen."

"We're morons with our heads up our asses," he said. "We're not willing to pull our heads out and look around if they have some better ideas."

There Harry - fixed that for ya.

Also do you get fined and/or jailed for failing to purchase a car for that insurance?

It is amazing how the media ridicules Bush and Palin's (et al) intelligence when they ARE arguably as intelligent as Obama and most other liberal politicians...

When I see the media or any individual(s) highly focused on the gaffes, misspeaks or "stupidity" of another candidate instead of their positions and rationale on the topics that matter, it wreaks of the tactics of a grade school child loosing a debate...

So when I say I completely agree with Marianne, I am not saying that Obama himself is stupid, but that his policies lack good rational thinking...again, due to his real world inexperience imo.

We used to have very heated debates over at the other site because Obama appeared to many of us to be a socialist leaning attorney, politician and community organizer with little no real world (especially business) experience who would favor government control and solutions over the freedom, liberty and free markets that made our country the greatest and most prosperous on earth.

I think that what has played out shows that those of us who expressed LEGITIMATE AND WELL FOUNDED CONCERNS WERE RIGHT....
