Steelers hold off Dolphins, 23-22By Scott Brown, PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Behind a closed door in the visiting locker room at Sun Life Stadium, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin could be heard saying, "Warm up the bus, Mr. Rooney."

Had the Steelers been somewhere with a more rabid fan base, the police escort they get to the airport after a road game may have been a necessity for safety purposes.

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw for 302 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Jeff Reed kicked three field goals Sunday as the Steelers outlasted the Miami Dolphins, 23-22.

I just want to add on some post game thoughts about the Dolphin game that I hadn't got around to expressing yet.

Great to see special teams working for the Steelers this season. Outside of Sander's opening kickoff flub the Steelers won the kickoff war on both sides by a significant margin and it played a critical part in the end result. After Sanders fumbled the opening kick he made up for it by setting up 10 essential points with two ko returns of 40 plus yards.

And the kickoff coverage team of the Steelers were exceptional as well. It all starts with Reed who's placing the ball better when asked to, and also getting improved depth and hang time on his kicks as well. Bottom line on 6 Steeler kick offs the Dolphins never had better starting position than their own 29!

Big difference from last year, and you can't minimize how big a factor this was to getting the win for this game.
