A pause outside of the football realm. George Foreman dead at 76. Was always one of my favorites, as a man also.
RIP.

He participated in a violent sport but seemed to be a gentle giant when not in the ring.
I used to dislike George Foreman. He was this huge guy that always had a stern, mean look on his face and never looked happy. Then later in his life, I began to see interviews with him and how he changed his life around and was a different person than he was as a boxer. He became this happy, likeable dude.
RIP George, and prayers to his family and friends.

When he regained the championship in 1994, everyone rooted for him. Was fun to watch in the ring and on the mic. My dad was stunned and happy when he won.
RIP George

RIP Rev. George ....
one of the biggest punchers to ever lace up a pair of gloves , the only person I ever knew of that named every one of his sons after himself so none of them felt slighted ...
After a loss to Jimmy Young in 1977 he had a religious experience in the locker room and became a born again Christian and went on to become ordained minister and preacher after that experience , then serving at The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Houston, Texas

RIP George. A true legend. So many greats in and profession take then selves so seriously. George, at least after he grew older, always seemed to be able to avoid that trap and have a sense of humor about himself.

He always grilled his opponents.

In part because of Cosell's voice but has to be one of the most iconic calls in sports. Not quite Al Micheals 1980 USA vs Russian Hockey game or the "immaculate reception." Still, repeated often equaled never.

His grill was extremely successful. He named all his kids George.
