You're damn right Steelers linebacker James Harrison tried to hurt Cleveland's Joshua Cribbs Sunday.
Mohamed Massaquoi, too.
Just as he'll try to hurt quarterback Chad Henne and running backs Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams when the Steelers play the Dolphins in Miami Sunday.
"I don't want to see anyone injured," Harrison said, "but I'm not opposed to hurting anyone."

He's just asking to be fined. The league will not like the sound of that statement at all...it makes him sound like he's a dirty player.

Hard players hurt people. Dirty players seek to injure people.

Team bias will always cloud the boundaries of these two player types. On this board Harrison will always be perceived as hard and mean. No doubt on all other AFC north team boards Harrison will be perceived as dirty, just like Hines and any other steeler who hits hard.

I know you still love hard nosed football Gitno.

I agree with your assessment...that being said, being a hard player doesn't mean you have to talk like one. Let your play on the field do the talking. Hines never talks about hurting/injuring defensive players when he's laying the wood. Harrison talking is just going to bring the microscope on himself to an even greater extent.

Saying you that you're OK with hurting people after knocking two players out of a game is not smart. I love the hard hitting...and think some of the pansy rules need to go away...but so long as they are in place, players need to watch what they say if they're not going to watch what they do.

I thought it made him sound like a tough player, and your right the League, at least Gooddeell, doesn't like tough players, or hard hits, or any player who's name doesn't end in Brady.

"That was a good, clean, legal hit. I put my head across the bow. To be honest, I laid off him a little bit. I could have put a lot more into him."

His assessment on hit #2 is quite intriguing. I feel for anyone that gets the full serve.

Hit #1 will draw the fine as the No Fun League police will show helmet to helmet contact at the end of the hit.

I understand protecting the players and all, but at some point you just gotta let these guys play the game. He probably will get fined, and that's bogus. Both hits were good clean hard football tackles

Wait, isn't the whole point of playing defense hitting to hurt guys? Not injure them, but hit him hard enough so that they think twice about coming over the middle or be a little more hesitant running the football or whatever. That's what Harrison is talking about, and if the league fines him for that, then they're a bigger bunch of pussies than I thought.
