This one is a no-brainer imho.

BIG BEN all the way! :applaudit:

I give an honorable mention to the Steelers D (most of the game anyway), Mike Wallace, Mendy and - yes - BRUCE ARIANS for a well-called game. :drink:

I would give it to Mendenhall because he was effective most of the game. BB would be #2.

I would give Cleveland's game ball to their punter with McCoy coming in a close second.

Big Ben no question. I dont know how many times it was 3rd and long and he came through. Any other QB we used we would have ran a draw then punt. This guy is a difference maker!!!

Big Ben, no question. Great first game of the year for Ben. It was good to get Hines and Heath back in the offense too.

Let me join the square pegs here and say...

Men Den Haul!!! Some huge runs and did yinzers see his Block late in the game that knocked out 2 rushers.

Ben is a close 2nd but over threw Hines 3 times.

D as always looked awsome!!!

That is a big point. Their punter pinned us multiple times. If Ben isn't the QB we are probably punting from out endzone, which could have changed the game

I would also rate Mendy as team MVP up to this point.

The Refs for not throwing a flag on Harrison on the helmet-to-helmet shots that knocked out both Cribbs and Massaquoi. (Cribbs doesn't fumble punt returns like Stuckey does...)

Give it to Ben. Not bad for first game back in regular season action. The sky is the limit. Receivers will also get more confidence now.

Kudos to the Oline, no sacks and decent running game.

Well, I stand corrected from my post in the other thread. You seriously aren't blaming the refs for the loss, are you?

Naw...your team is still too talented...and you still have Dick LeBeau coaching a stellar Defense. Our Secondary bit on too many pums by Big Ben (though I think the hit on his throwing arm may have hurt more than he let on...cuz Ben started overthrowing players afterwards with a little more regularity.)

I'm just upset, that's all.

No worries...it's just been a frustrating sports weekend for me. First OSU gets shelacked by Wisconsin...then this. I wasn't expecting a win coming in...but it doesn't make it any less frustrating. Seeing stupid things like the fumbled punt return get me going. Especially since that was his third consecutive punt return (first two negated by penalties.)

Sorry as much as I'd like to give it to Ben, I believe today the O-Line gets mentioned and that's who I'm giving it to today.

While Ben did some amazing things, the O-line made it possible. Especially after playing for 3 different QBs in four different games before getting back to business with #7.

Uh, they werent very impressive, especially when Adams, Legursky, and Kemo were out and points during the game because of injuries. Even then....eh. Ben made a lot of great decisions and extended so many plays. You have to give him a ton of credit for not getting sacked once. Run blocking could use work, we got hit for no gain or dropped for a loss way too many times. I know that sounds bad lol/

Disagree. It was a 7-3 game midway through the 3rd quarter, Steelers backed up at their own 4 yard line. Go 3 and out there and who knows where the game goes? But instead Ben hits Wallace for a bunch, then 4 plays later 14-3. So I'd say Ben and Wallace were huge that series.

Harrison.

He KTFO'd Cribbs and Massa-sissy-coy. Changed the complexion of the game, set the tone and sent a loud warning to the rest of the league.

If he gets a chance he will hurt you.

You know how Porter used to be the voice of the team. . . Well, Harrison has become the voice of this team without saying a single word.

Harrison is an introverted type of guy, he didn't even want to fly to meet the President. However, his actions speak louder than words and you could hear the collisions on tv.

I bet Harrison gets fined and gets warned that another helmet to helmet hit will result in a suspension.

Not my opinion of course, but u know Roger "flag football" Goodell is salivating to the game film.

ben and the defense.

in the first 55 minutes of 5 games this year we have only allowed 29 points. THAT IS FREAKING AMAZING (combined that is over 18 quarters.)
in the last 5 minutes of 5 games this year we have allowed 31 points (that is not even a half of football).

if they play complete games we will be nearly unbeatable. it will be damn near impossible to continute on that pace of the first 55 minutes

I think even when it was 7-3, we were controlling nearly every aspect of the game and just not getting any points to show for it. Little breaks here and there were not going our way (like all the punts inside the 10, missing a couple important third downs, the INT in the red zone, etc.) but we pretty much dictated the course of the game. Cleveland got absolutely nowhere on offense until garbage time, and the only reason they even had a field goal was because of the long interception runback. They really didn't look like they were ever going to score unless we did something like fumble on our own 20. The offense made its share of plays too, but until we backed off or got lazy at the end, that was one of the more dominant performances by the defense, and it wasn't just one guy doing it. Harrison and Timmons stood out, but pretty much everyone was making big plays on D.

Holy shit - did hell freeze over when I wasn't looking? :jawdrop2: ;)

Thank you for giving much deserved props to BA. :drink: He called a great game and his unit EXECUTED.

And no - I'm not related to him. :heh: I just think the guy is unfairly abused by some Steelers fans, especially last season when (God forbid) Papa Lebeau's unit blew the leads in 6 games resulting in losses and BA was blamed.

I'd probably give it to Ben as well - especially considering all the off-the-field drama that lead up to this game. But honorable mention has to go to Harrison. Watching him play yesterday, I couldn't help but be reminded of Greg Lloyd in his prime. He may get fined for those collisions (ridiculous IMHO) - but by God I love the way that man plays football. Legendary.
