The Chiefs are moving on from one of their key pieces on defense.

Kansas City is trading CB L’Jarius Sneed to the Tennessee Titans for a 2025 third-round pick and a swap of 2024 seventh-round picks, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported on Friday, per sources.

Sneed is expected to get a new contract with the Titans, Pelissero added.

Fresh off a Super Bowl LVIII victory in February, the Chiefs moving on from Sneed has been brewing as a possibility for several weeks. On Feb. 28, Kansas City permitted Sneed to seek a trade partner. Then on March 4, the Chiefs placed the franchise tag on Sneed to avoid losing him to free agency empty-handed.

Wow…that’s really low compensation for Sneed…

I guess it’s better than nothing.

I guess it’s better than nothing.Hard to negotiate when you don't have the cap space for the contract.

Math will get you every time.

Yeah...teams know it and unless they really love him enough to pay, they know they have the Chiefs by the balls...

The Chiefs have a lot of players they are gonna have to pay. Creed, Trey Smith, and maybe Nick Bolton.

There were also some reports about Sneed having a knee problem. That may have scared the competition. Titans have been on a spending spree during free agency.

It’s a new economy in the NFL.

At least the Chiefs tend to get some return for their over -the -cap players. I honestly thought the Chiefs were done a few years ago, but I now think their way may be the new way. They don't hold on to the end to all their great players. Instead, they go get some value for those players and reload. Of course, it helps when you have an all-time great at QB.
