This mock up of an obituary for Colt McCoy's football career has been floating around the Internet today ...
http://c0020036.cdn1.cloudfiles.rackspacecloud.com/images/stories/D_Gigler/colt.jpg
You can read the whole thing here (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_5Bzo2DxrNFM/TLfha-x4DzI/AAAAAAAAAAU/uFU3s3wiqiU/s1600/coltmccoy.JPG).

The conventional wisdom suggests that McCoy is in for a looooooooong and probably physically and psychologically scarring day on Sunday against a snarling Steelers defense that is as fierce as it is good. Which is to say very on both accounts.
Then again, he might be a natural and have a great debut, though with pretty much all of his Browns offensive mates already at least a little banged up -- and not exactly world-beaters when they are healthy -- that outcome seems unlikely....................

If he weren't playing against us, I'd be the kid's loudest supporter. :chuckle: Who knows, he may suprise everybody and take down the big, bad Steelers. :noidea:

You know, I'd LOVE to see 1 of 2 things.

1. The kid just lights it up. Throwing for 300 yards hitting his receivers right in the numbers every time. However, his receivers keep fumbling the ball every time our LB's and DB's hit them, curling up when they hear footsteps and tipping the ball for INTS, or just flat taking two steps and dropping down on the turf like the Bungles used to do. OUr offense lights them up for 45 points, and this kid ends up being the ONLY bright spot for this team.

OR

2. By Sunday at midnight, he is flying out to Seattle to be a backup QB. Oops, sorry Frye.

I must admit, the one thing Cleveland has going for them is their O-line. Joe Thomas is a Top 3 Left Tackle. So presumably, McCoy will have the benefit of decent protection. But no matter how you look at it, it's gonna be a long day for him. So if he's the 3rd stringer and he gets hurt, is Cribbs gonna play QB the rest of the game orr

It's up to Ben to come out crisp because if he is rusty and starts turning the ball over, that could easily make McCoy look good.

Hines posted on facebook that Ben looks great. Coming from Hines I am excited!

That is one of the most inappropriate things I have seen in a long time. Uncool if you ask me...

Mr. McCoy - meet Messrs. Harrison and Woodley. I'm sure they'll be making their acquaintances early and often.

I love it that is funny as hell. Hopefully our defense will make it a long day for McCoy. Woodley on one side Harrison on the other and Timmons coming up the middle and lets throw a corner blitz in there as well. All I can say is good luck.

It doesn't claim that Mccoy passed away. It says his career passed away. (although he may wish he were dead before it's all over)

"He had no teeth, and he was slobbering all over himself. I'm thinking, 'You can have your money back, just get me out of here. Let me go be an accountant." I can't tell you how badly I wanted out of there." Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Welcome to the NFL colt.

So, either McCoy is going to be the long saught after franchaise QB that the Browns have been searching for decades or he is going to be planted like a fence post and picked off in his NFL debut.

Most likely he will not win his first thirteen starts in a row.
