his chances of staying healthy are higher if he only rotates in.

does anyone know if Alexander is good in pass coverage?

He had 3 interceptions in 2017. Not sure if he’s slowed down a bit though. He’s had knee and Achilles injuries.

But seems like a really solid depth piece. A veteran who definitely knows how to tackle.

Coverage ability has been one of Alexander's strengths as a linebacker during his career. Not sure how he did last season but I have read that the Jets had him covering the slot 126 times

Also, FWIW. pre-write "Jeremiah Trotter Jr, ILB, Clemson" in your 2024 1st round mock.

Yep, he's known more for his coverage ability. He's not a big guy and has had good movement skills.

I agree with what some others said here. He's had some major injuries over the last several years. I really don't know how much speed and agility he has lost in that time, but I could see him being a passing down specialist or rotational player.

I think he can be a quality piece if he stays healthy. I was hoping they would sign Evans as an every-down LB, but he was going to be expensive. Overall, I like it. They have guys like Riley balling out at training camp and Norwood that can play Nickel corner, and add a piece like Alexander that can come on the field in passing situations or sub packages and can play multiple positions and all are athletic that also give options with blitzing so they can come from anywhere. It is really intriguing to see how they will use him.

If they don't sign a big free agent in the offseason, you would think that ILB will be a priority position in next year's draft.

1 year deal for Kwon.

Tackle Jarrid Williams has been released.

I’m not sure the ILB is getting “good” but it’s certainly getting crowded.

My crystal ball sees Robinson getting caught in a crunch. Hope another team gives him a good year of coaching and he comes back around.

How many of the ILBs still have PS option?

Yep. Just ask Gunnar who he pummeled in last year's game.

this addition could allow you to play base a little more , anytime you get a guy who can cover and still run and hit on the field it makes it less pressing to go nickle or dime on those 3rd and 5's

And then maybe not get gouged by teams deciding to run in those situations.

Would be surprising. Robinson is still seeing first team snaps, and the pads have not gone on yet. Nick Nwiatkoski is likely on the outside looking in right now.

Kwon just adds some athleticism and coverage talents to the room.

That could very well be true.

I just do not start with Robinson being a "must roster" guy. He has a small # of special teams snaps (I think...did not look this up) and a very small number of actual defensive snaps. He is basically a preseason hero who needs a great deal of development to make an impact on Sundays.

Nwiatkoski has tape - however mediocre it might be - of actual NFL things -- at least on special teams.

I like Robinson and the depth chart you posted is also what I would do. It gets you 2 deep at "different flavors" of ILB and then you burn the other ILB slot on STs. But I can also see them deciding that Robinson is too inexperienced to help out and they need the roster spot.

At this point, all we really need at the position is another Larry Foote. I don't know enough about Kwon Alexander, but if he even comes close to reaching that level, then this defense has the potential to be outstanding this year, and by outstanding, I mean a defense that can go out and win three or four games for us, rather than just giving us the opportunity to win games.

Robinson got 44 snaps on defense and 16 on ST
