Season Done.
Positives:
Kenny Pickett came into his own in a big way.
Najee Harris grew up.
George Pickens is a monster.
Barring injury, this team will be fierce come next season.
Weaknesses:
Matt Canada as usual.
Need to beef up the WR core.
Probably need to look at ILB again.
This is a very young team that grew up before our eyes, and took apart a talented Browns team.

I think you hit nail on head with the weakness category. We still need O line help but they progressed nicely. Najee looking more like Derrick Henry than Benny Snell which is huge.

Add Jaylen Warren's name beside Najee as a positive for me. I think having a 1-2 punch at RB for once as we saw over the last few games was huge. Najee looked fresher and stronger late in the season.

Positives
We have an answer at QB for at least the next two years (and more, of course, depending on development).
The O-line came together in run blocking.
We have a very good 1-2 punch at RB. Najee Harris healed and showed that when healthy, he's the horse we wanted when we drafted him.
George Pickens is a number 1 receiver in the making.
Defense is starting to make teams pay for mistakes.
Weaknesses
O-line pass protection. It has to be shored up before next season. Whether that's the guys working on it themselves or bringing someone else in, I don't know.
Pickett's tendency to throw high. He seems to be working on it already. My guess is it's a mechanics issue and hopefully one off-season without having to worry about classes and studying and everything else will allow him the time continue his work fixing it.
We need a strong possession receiver.
Need one more playmaker on the defense, someone who comes in and changes games. Watt and Fitzpatrick are established as playmakers, Heyward too. A few others flash in a game. But we need one more very consistent playmaker.
Need to offload Trubisky. I was all for keeping him as a backup but with him running his mouth lately, we suddenly are weak at the backup QB position. If Pickett is prone to concussions (2 this year), the backup QB is going to be very important.
-----------------
This team came together down the stretch won four straight game, and 6 of their last 7. The last time they were overmatched in a game was Oct. 30 against the Eagles, and at that point, they were 2-6 and the Eagles were 7-0. They're not a dominate team yet (I don't expect them to win almost every game). But they're a team on the rise.
Playing against Deshaun Watson just rubs me the wrong way.
well, at least it was a happy ending for the Steelers

according to spotrac , right now without making any moves they have 13 million.
https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/pittsburgh-steelers/cap/2023/
thats not a lot considering the free agents such as ogunjobi , sutton, edmunds , and wormly.

none of them should be staring down a huge contract, but either you pay them or pay someone else. either way they dont have much to play with without restructuring.

Releasing William Jackson III and Mitch Trubisky nets an additional $20M in cap space just with those two moves. I'd also consider releasing Myles Jack and saving another 8M in cap space. They can get another 5 to 6 million by releasing Akhello Witherspoon and Gunner Olsewski I think.
So those moves give the team around $46 million total in cap space. If I was GM I would make those moves and attempt to resign Cam Sutton and Terrell Edmunds, and also try to sign Alex Highsmith to an extension.

according to spotrac the deadcap for releasing jackson next year is 9 million. so your saving about 3.65 million. dont see that happening. they'll eat the 2.6 cap for mitch to save 8 mill, then they have 2 holes at QB to fill. i think they keep miles jack.
cut arthur maulet saves 1.8.
gunner saves 2 million
killebrew would save 2 mill
witherspoon saves 4 mill
adams saves 2.5 mill

A big positive is that this years rookie class looks like it will be a good one.
Pickett, Pickens, Leal, Warren, Robinson, Heyward(he just makes plays folks). Now lets hope CA3 becomes something, the offense could use his talents/speed.

I saw another site that said William Jackson does not carry any dead cap hit if released, which makes sense to me. As far as I know the Steelers never redid his contract or signed him to an extension, so I do not see why they would have a $12M dead cap hit. If he truly is on the books for $12M next year if released then Khan screwed up big time trading for him.

...or you play in a division that's bad enough that a sub-.500 record wins the division title. The AFC North has never afforded that luxury.
