Okay before we get crazy with calling for Pickett we have to see the film. Were guys wide open that Trubisky just didn't see or was it on Canada's inept offense? Again the game film will show this.
But nothing matters if TJ/Harris/Heyward are out for the season.

Heros...the whole defense.
Goats...OL, Canada, Trubisky, Injuries
We won the game, but at what price? Cole, Harris, and Watt all went down with what looked to be possibly serious injuries.
I 100% believe that Watt being gassed had to do with his pec injury. Blame CANADA.

Heroes - Def and Boz
Goats - Canada and Refs. OL was bad, but kept MT clean and a few passes even gave him time to miss throws. Terrible for the run game.

The same type of injury happened to his brother JJ, I blame genetics and the parents only calling them by two initials.

Gonna be hard to be a "sacks and YAC" team when your sacks just got injured for the year and your QB is too inaccurate to give you WRs YAC opportunities.
Just start KP and see if he can figure it out.

But remember, KP only gets 2 quarters to prove himself. If he fails then he is benched.

Does this team win a game without TJ? He's arguably our best offensive player with his ability to create or help create turnovers. If it's serious it's 3-4 months

The Bengals offense had 432 yards on 95 total plays. The Steelers offense had 267 yards on 61 total plays.
Game ball goes to Boz, period. 11 pts plus the game winner.
Defense got 5 turnovers and scored 6 points with 7 sacks.
Offense got into the endzone once for 6 points. BUT NO TURNOVERS!!
MUST improve on 4/15 3rd down conversions. That is a pitiful stat.
We still only ran the ball 19 times.
The stat that matters the most...Steelers WIN!

Watched Cousins drop a anice 40 yard something pass on Jefferson. I remember all the people here hoping we didn't trade for that bum.
I like Mitch but today was a miserable offensive performance. Signs of life just were not there.
Defense won this game. Period. Boz jersey des need to be good this week.
If watt and Harris are lost for some extended time, it's going to be bad

I’ll go a different way.
Austin, Flores, and Tomlin all should get medals.
Austin flummoxed and frustrated a pretty good Bengals offense all day. He was aggressive and put his playmakers in good positions.
Flores likely helped. Bush, Jack, and Spillane all look like they belonged on an NFL field. Although I’ve already had enough of the Spillane nickel package. He got poked in the eye and Jack came in and made a play Spillane can only dream of making.
Once again, Tomlin fielded a united team with zero quit in them. Other coaches would’ve had the defense feuding with offense - Buddy Ryan anyone? But instead the all world big $$$ safety is laying out to block PATs.
Also, the D line coach. He’s got all them boys ready to kick ass. D Leal looks like he might push for a bunch more snaps.

Heroes
Boswell: doinks it off the upright and the comes back and nails it. I know we all hated that season that he struggled. But it seemed to have given him a steel backbone and an ability to put the ugly stuff out of his head.
Highsmith: What a performance. Three sacks and a forced fumble. I think they were probably paying a little more attention to Watt and it seriously cost them.
Watt: a sack and an INT.
Heyward: a sack and an INT that got converted to a fumble recovery. Give the big guy an INT! Come on, NFL!
Minkah Fitzpatrick. I was surprised to see he only had 1 INT. He seemed to be near the ball quite a bit today.
Special Teams played very well. No big returns against us. Gunner had a good return. Great extra point block to extend the game.
Cameron Sutton: He's a goat as well. But I'm putting him here because he stuck with it and didn't let anyone get in his head today. Then, when he had to, he came up with some good plays.
On offense, it's tough. Diontae and Chase both showed flashes of who they can be. I liked Warren's running in that he ran hard. But there wasn't any game balls on the offense today.
Goats
Cameron Sutton: penalties killed us. Either he was getting beat too often or taking dumb penalties. My guess is a bit of the former.
O-line. The weren't good on pass protection, but at least they gave MT a bit of time. Except for one play, however, they were horrible in the run.
Can't put MT here because he did drive the team into fieldgoal range. I'm unhappy with him but he doesn't deserve a Goat.
T. J. Watt's pec/arm, Harris's foot, and whatever injury Heyward had. If Watt and Heyward's injuries are anywhere near serious, we're in deep trouble.
NFL broadcast rules. The game shutoff in overtime when the Bengals missed the field goal so that they could show the Cardinals. Why can't the NFL start West coast games at 2 pm rather than 1 pm?
Coaches
Defense: Well done. I was worried about the run game. Turns out I didn't need to be worried at all. Bengals' points came due to our offense not being able to hold the ball. You can't expect to hold off an offense all game long with as many chances as they got.
Offense: As I've said in another thread. I'm not on the Blame-Canada bandwagon yet. A bad O-line and mediocre game manager as a QB makes it difficult. But I'm surely not on the defend-Canada bandwagon, either.
Special Teams: Wow. Just Wow. Well done. How often have we said that about the special teams play over the last few years?
Head coach: When it's all said and done, Tomlin leaves with a win against last year's AFC Super Bowl team, and he did so with a new QB and a bad oline. Say what you want, but I think his work bringing in Flores and giving him room to work with the secondary was the game changer today. Many would throw all the praise at Flores. But Mike T. gets credit for making that relationship work (so far). As for MT vs. Pickett . . . MT isn't a good QB. But would Pickett have had the poise and knowledge to hit that long pass on the offsides? Don't know but that was the play that finally brought the game home. If that's not hit, we leave with a tie. Maybe Pickett could have done it. Maybe not. But Mitch did. That said, I expect to see Pickett some time this year. I just don't think MT will last an entire year.

Pickett wouldn't have needed to hit that pass in OT because we already would've won in regulation by about 31-10. It goes beyond leaving points on the field, our inability to move the ball at all for large stretches of the game gave a big assist to the Bengals on at least two of their scoring drives.
You don't win the turnover battle 5-0 and then nearly lose the game unless you really fucked up. That usually means a blowout. But we punted 8 times, that's basically like giving all the turnovers back. That's how bad the offense was, enough to make up for 5 turnovers. Think about that shit. Even halfway decent play probably means we win by two touchdowns.

It was almost historically bad. I remember the analysts showing a stat that there was only 1 team to ever lose a game having a +5 turnover margin. We almost became the 2nd today. Everything about our offense is pathetic. I was on the give Canada a chance train last season...now I'm seeing that his system is trash and he needs to go.

You're assuming a heck of a lot. I have high hopes for Pickett as well. But assuming he'd move the offense against a good defense without an o line or run game is a very large leap.

Losing the turnover battle 0-5 (with a defensive score) usually leads to a classic Jim Mora rant and a blowout. With how the defense played, this game had no business being close. I'm happy about the win, but there's no way anyone can be happy with how the offense performed.
