The NFC south could be awful next year...No Brady for the Bucs...No Brees and now Sean Payton for the saints....And I can't trust the falcons and the panthers...
The AFC north will face this division next year

Bucaneers will be (yet) another team looking for a QB. The free agency for average QBs is a seller’s market.

I think he's going to regret this.
Just look at his numbers this year despite his age:
5,316 yards
43 touchdown passes
67.5 completion (second best mark in his career)

Bucs might be pretty bad and on a long trajectory for their rebuild.
Current speculation is that they are going to have a mass roster exodus.
Arians has already given blanket permission to any member of his staff to take interviews and leave for any job - even lateral moves.
So...what about a Bucs trifecta in FA?
Jensen, Davis, and Godwin? It might cost $40 million in cap space...but those three solve a ton of roster problems.
But back to the present issue...there a lot of teams hunting for QBs in a down year...gonna be wild. Those teams sitting on multiple first round picks...might be able to auction one off for a steep price.

I figured he was going to stay in the race for one more ring.. kind of surprised by the news especially considering how well he's been playing. I feel like he's still soaking in the loss and will have buyers remorse as he has time to cool off.

They were high on Kyle Trask. I could see Trask being their version of Mason Rudolph: they might have to go with him for a season, and look at 2023 to find their next QB.

How? Because he announced his retirement during the Championship weekend? I think announcing it Superbowl week would have been more dickish. He also could have announced it when Ben did but let Ben have a week. The only drawback is like 86 said that both he and Ben will be going into the HOF at the same time which means the media will be slobbering all over him that weekend.
Look I hated Brady as an opponent, but as a person and player he's been nothing but great.

Just curious if anyone has actually looked into the TB12 Holistic living system. I read the online site that talked about hydrating, eating a plant-based breakfast, meditation, and cardio every morning. I think it probably does work for some people but for those of us that get up at the butt-crack of dawn already to get ready and drive to work, it seems a bit much to add to my routine. I figure showering(which is getting closer to resembling washing my car) is enough cardio for me. Meditation, or morning constitution as some refer to it, happens pretty naturally already. My morning eggs aren't plant-based but they're not really animal based either if you think about it(Realized during meditation). The hydrating part I have always been into, but I have to wait until after work for most of that.

Tom Brady's claim that staying ultra-hydrated helps protect him from the sun's rays is raising eyebrows on social media.
"When I was growing up, and playing outside in the sun, I got sunburned a lot. I was a fair-skinned Irish boy, after all. These days, even if I get an adequate amount of sun, I won't get a sunburn, which I credit to the amount of water I drink," the New England Patriots quarterback writes in his new book "The TB12 Method: How to Achieve a Lifetime of Sustained Peak Performance."

I'm not 44 yet but close to it. I can honestly say I'm in better shape now than I was in my 30s and even my 20s, mostly due to changing up my diet and living habits. I definitely drink a lot less than I used to also lol.

I'm almost 54 and still play competitive volleyball. I have lost some height on my jumping and power on my hits (I hit smarter now :) ) but there is no reason to think you cannot continue playing sports into your 50's. Granted I don't have a professional chef, trainer, yoga instructor and what ever else Brady has but it's not a stretch. The biggest thing now for Brady is probably the mental aspect of the game more than the physical. I mean he just threw for over 5K yards.

I agree and we see that in other sports that if you stay healthy, a player can be very good for a very long time, longer than before, especially for the QB in the NFL with all the rules that protect QBs and Brady's greatest strength is his brains,so it helps too

The rules protecting QB’s has prolonged Brady’s career just as much as the healthy regiment. He could’ve never pulled this off, even today if defenders were allowed to hit QB’s like they used to.

With all due respect, volleyball isn't football and the NFL isn't a recreational league.

See, this is what I'm talking about. If anything, Brady's arm seems STRONGER now than it was a decade ago. Huge flashing red sign. To me, at least.
...but there is no reason to think you cannot continue playing sports into your 50's.
It's not a question of playing sports into one's mid-late 40s and 50s, but being able to play sports professionally at a world class level at that age. Especially a particularly violent sport where the average player's career is about 3 years in duration and is known for taking years off its participant's lives.
I just find it suspicious that this dude is still playing at the very highest level in a collision sport against the best players in the world of said sport at an age where NOBODY else has ever done it, that's all.
The rules protecting QB’s has prolonged Brady’s career just as much as the healthy regiment. He could’ve never pulled this off, even today if defenders were allowed to hit QB’s like they used to.
Excellent point. I've been saying for years that Brady wouldn't have lasted 10 minutes in Montana's era - never mind Bradshaw's or Unitas'. Hell, Unitas was lucky to get through a game WITHOUT a bloody lip.
Still doesn't explain his arm seemingly being stronger at age 44 than it was when he was 30, though.

LOL, I never said volleyball is the NFL. I also grew up playing ice hockey and played division 2 hockey in college. I quit playing hockey (in adult leagues) around 40 because it was too hard on my body, plus I played a lot of volleyball at the time. Add to the fact that adult hockey leagues always started at late times during the week, life and kids added to me quitting. I still skate and play for fun but not much at all.
But my whole point was if you stay in shape, eat right, exercise you can play sports into your upper years and still be good at them.
SIW was correct though, the league rule changes have helped Brady prolong his career. I even brought up that point this week in the Championship game thread after Beckham was whining for getting hit. Swann and Bradshaw were targeted and murdered by the Raiders defense in the 70's. If today's players played in the 70's or 80's they wouldn't be walking and certainly wouldn't be playing into their 40's.

I think there are definite limits to that, especially when it comes to competing at a world class level like the NFL.
Hell, even the PGA has a Seniors tour and I think it's arguable whether pro golfers are even "athletes" to begin with.
At some point you hit a wall, and Brady somehow hasn't yet.
Somehow he's figured it all out where everyone else has failed? Nah.
I simply can't ignore that the guy has arguably a better arm at 44 than he did at 30, particularly after he spent 20 years in a team culture where "bending the rules" was the norm...

Playing sports into middle age and beyond is one thing for rec leagues and whatnot is just not a realistic comparison for playing sports in the NFL. To be an NFL player you have to basically be an Avenger. Any of the 40+ crowd here feel like an Avenger when they wake up? I know I don't. Now...admittedly I am in the worst shape of my life currently (just setting up the comeback story for next training camp or so...) but still.
Sorry...NFL players are not regular people. Any comparisons we make to our own fitness lives is just not a realistic analogy.
I remember there was a Monday Night Countdown that followed Bettis for the week up to a game. He couldn't even walk down his stairs normally until Wednesday or so after a Sunday game. The recovery and training issue is what raises the biggest eyebrow for me with Tom Terrific.
FWIW, I think his arm is worse now. I just think he and the Bucs hide it WAAAYY better than the Patriots did. One of the reasons that I felt he left the Pats. They do not ask their QB to do superhuman feats but they will ask their QB to repeatedly make certain throws. And they like to play a shorter passing game. Not sure TB can do that anymore to sub-par weapons. He is starting to float a bunch of passes but the Bucs elite weapons and deep strike offense pull the defense apart enough that teams can not consistently make him pay.

Good point. However, I honestly don't think his accuracy has suffered much from what I have seen. He never really had a "cannon" of an arm to begin with.

LOL. And make it illegal to tackle a QB more than 2 times a game, running or not. Maybe it's time for the 'pain in ass' Colin Kaepernick to start some shit again in the NFL to get a open QB jobs.
