What scheme could they do?

Steelers do impressive schematic things all the time, particularly on defense, when they have the horses.

Last 3 plays. No scheme corrects the fact that Spillane is athletically overmatched and can’t shed blocks.

This is what that looks like. And the Chiefs are without one of their best weapons that they will have in the playoffs.

You can’t take chances you can’t execute.

Ben can’t throw deep accurately or consistently.
The line can’t hold long.

One of the things not talked about enough is how years of being right at the cap, paying $$$ for star players, and trading draft picks to get a “missing” piece have eroded the depth.

Many of the Steelers backups and some starters on both sides of the ball wouldn’t make other 53 man rosters. Witherspoon, Maulet, Turner, and Adams are examples.

Starting after this season, they are cap flixible enough to try to upgrade all over the roster.

The Colts played yesterday with three scrub O linemen, and were also missing some ILB or other. Guy named Darius Leonard who is the best player on that defense. I guess his back up must have been an All Pro as well for them to put together a win against a 10 win team.

Again, not blaming it all on coaching. But I do believe we have enough talent on this team that we wouldn’t look this bad kind of on the regular with a better coaching staff that works on things that constantly happen, or try to screen around deficiencies.

Remember after the Vikings game where Tomlin was going to turn over rocks to find better players? Well maybe he did. Whatever he uncovered looks just as bad. I don’t necessarily think it would be so crazy to expand that search beneath the rocks for some coaches.

Agree. To me, that’s his biggest downfall by far. I liked Haley and thought he was good. He would get cute at times but his offenses were pretty consistent. Arians was similar but didn’t care for the life of QBs…
