Okay let's get this thing started already! Some pundits have us getting smoked (CBS Sports has us losing 38-24), others still have us losing but in a close game. I haven't seen on person picking us to win.

All that said, I see us losing 31-16, with our secondary getting torched for huge plays by Allen/Diggs. I hope I'm wrong!

If you go back and look my BOLD PREDICTION was this OL will finish the season as a top5 OL. I also peppered in a lot of posts about being patient while this offense gets used to playing together at the NFL level and speed. Growing pains. The negative doomers on here today are just as annoying or more than the pre-season rosy colored glasses posts. Just my opinion I guess.

Agreed the outcome is not determined. But we have seen some positive (defensive front including Ingram, the pre-snap stuff, Harris) and we have seen plenty of negative (offensive line, QB, and special teams).

Many had this team winning the AFC North and were talking about a deep playoff run. Angry that the "pundits" didn't see it the same way. It has only been a half, on the road, against maybe the second best team in the conference, but there has been little that looks like a division winning team.

55 yards of offense is not "it hasn't clicked yet" that is "not a good team" levels.

54 yards is pathetic. They have shown every sign of being the exact same team as last year. Defenses know how to play Ben. When you can't stretch the field it makes it really hard to get anything going. At this point, it looks like the same ol, same ol.

The Steelers stagnated while everyone else in the AFC moved on. Even New England said goodbye to Tom Brady. Granted he's still doing well in Tampa Bay, but the Steelers are in this spot because they refused to move on. The Pats have a better head start to re-open their window than they do. We have a weak aging QB who has lost his best asset, and no one else behind him besides a Checkdown Charlie and a athletic headcase first round bust who may or may not be good.

Three postseason wins in ten years and the organization felt it was okay to say, nah, no changes needed to be made. Tomlin has no losing seasons after all.

Even if the Steelers manage to pull this game out, there's 16 more games to go. We better get accustomed to seeing this frustration for the forseeable future.

That said, here's to the second half.

You do realize we only have one return to start on offensive line. We have a new running back. In fact probably the only two returning groups are the quarterbacks and the receivers. So yes, the offense needs time to grow until cohesive unit--especially the offensive line. So I think Ben R. is the same as always been? Of course not. Over 30 minutes into a 1,080 minute season or half a game into an 18 game season. It's a little premature to make any absolute statements about the offense beyond payments about the first half. And yes, that sucked.

I understand what you're saying. I'm trying to be hopeful too. But it isn't the score. It's not that every thing that can go wrong is going wrong so we're getting blown out. It's that somethings have gone right. We've had good defense. Good field position at times. But the offense is giving no signs that they CAN do anything. It's extra depressing because we have talented receivers and a talented RB. In '08 we could survive with a bad O-line because Ben was fearless and able to extend plays. There was no game that I didn't believe was winnable because of who was under center.

It seems like you can have a bad O-line with a great QB, or even a great O-line and a bad QB (if you have a great defense and run game and special teams like the 2000 Ravens) but you simply can not have a bad O-line and a bad QB. No matter how talented the skill positions are.

I'm hoping Ben isn't actually this shaky and bad. He has often gotten off to slow starts before. Especially when he doesn't play the prior week. Maybe that's the case her.

Agreed the outcome is not determined. But we have seen some positive (defensive front including Ingram, the pre-snap stuff, Harris) and we have seen plenty of negative (offensive line, QB, and special teams).

Many had this team winning the AFC North and were talking about a deep playoff run. Angry that the "pundits" didn't see it the same way. It has only been a half, on the road, against maybe the second best team in the conference, but there has been little that looks like a division winning team.
