Precedent says they take a LB and a WR with two of the picks.
Maybe a late round DL.
Look for priority UDFA at DB.

I'd like to see them spend one of the 2 round 4 picks on a CB. Not as imperative as drafting offensive line but with Steven Nelson and Mike Hilton gone and no new additions added, it would probably be a good idea to ensure the pass defense doesn't drop off. Also on the 2% chance Stone Forsythe is there at the Steelers next pick, draft him (then draft CB with the pick after that)

I wouldn't mind if they ended up with OTs Jaylon Moore, or Tommy Doyle either

Have to pick some Defense after 3 offensive picks so far. I would like to see D line, OLB, CB next.
Rashad Weaver, Tre Brown or Darren Hall, Daelin Hayes or Patrick Johnson. IMO, with Bush, Williams, Spillane....ILB isnt an immediate need, as much as I like Cam McGrone or Dylan Moses.

Hmm...
Did T. Williams get drafted or T. Gillespie? Both Safeties I like more than the ones on your list. Not that I am correct.
I mocked Gillespie to the Steelers in the fourth round as well as Edge/OLB. Where I didn't mock to be honest. I like a bunch about equal. But if I had to choose at this point now that we are this far along, I would pick Toney or Hayes (only because I know their game as I follow their teams). They are both able to contribute and can be coached up in my opinion.
But I am high on Gillespie. Followed by T Williams. Both of who I think can compete for a Nickel position as well.

Let's not forget the WR's. Hard to believe the Steelers wouldn't draft one. Maybe some possibles in the bold.
Tylan Wallace, Oklahoma State
Amon-Ra St. Brown, USC
Dazz Newsome, North Carolina
Seth Williams, Auburn
Tamorrion Terry, Florida State
Sage Surratt, Wake Forest
Marlon Williams, UCF
Jaelon Darden, North Texas
Ihmir Smith-Marsette, Iowa
Damonte Coxie, Memphis
Shi Smith, South Carolina
Cornell Powell, Clemson
If not I hope they can pick up WR, punter (Max Duffy) as undrafted.

This is fun so far.
1. All the guys drafted so far are guys we looked at and talked about on here and most of us liked, even mocked at some point in our draft nerd draft play.
2. None of these picks feels like a ‘reach for need’ pick.
2a. Najee Harris was the top RB on 95% of RB rankings boards. The Steelers got the guy they wanted.
2b. Pat Freiermuth was only the 2nd TE selected. There were plenty others to choose from. The Steelers got the guy they wanted.
2c. Kendrick Green was a surprise name for me. But his play style is nothing like the 3-4 OC names we have been throwing around and mocking to ourselves. Plus this being only the 2nd OC off the board shows this pick was not a desperation reach. The Steelers got the guy they wanted.

Why do some guys suggest we draft an "OC"? I thought the Offensive Coordinator was already Matt Canada? :noidea:

I can certainly add those two names. I started with names I’d heard thrown around (here and on Twitter) associated with the Steelers. I bolded the ones who had meeting and/or who had someone at their pro day. Then, I added an Aztec (for me), and in honor of the Rock’n’Roll HOF theme, I added Snoop’s son.
There is a degree of logic to it... Teegre logic.
Jaylon Moore fits BOTH criteria. I expect him to be drafted today.

I think Jaylon Moore would be a good choice for us . He would give us valuable depth at 2 positions.

Indeed  I think the starters are Okorafor and Banner, but depth is very much needed. We are one slip away from having ...checks notes... Haeg starting. :scared:

I see R4 being
Ar’Darius Washington: Teryl Austin worked him out. Plus, he’s played safety and corner. He’s the perfect replacement for Mike Hilton.
Jaylon Moore: for reasons already mentioned
That said, I would not be surprised by an ILB (to eventually pair with Bush) or an OLB (to add to the rotation).

Ar'Darius Washington definitely has the college production. But that 5'8"-175LBs is a bit small and worrisome for me. Just seems the AFC North RBs would snack on him all game long.

He’s roughly the same size as Mike Hilton. In part, I think it’s where my immediate association comes from.

I really like how things are shaping up. It seems like Klemm and Canada and the others have a vision and plan and are taking the steps needed to make it happen. I'm really liking Klemm as a coach.

I could see one more offensive player picked.
It seems to me that there a quite a few 4th or 5th round RBs left, That could work in our favor.

Indeed  The more RBs drafted the better!!!
Based on the meetings, pro days, and needs:
R4: CB/S, Ar’Darius Washington, TCU (Teryl Austin at pro day)
R4: OL, Jaylon Moore, Western Mich (Zoom… AND… scout at pro day)
R6: ILB, Derrick Barnes, Purdue (ILB coach at pro day)
R7: DL, Milton Williams, La Tech (D-line coach at pro day)
R7: P, Max Duffy or Pressley Harvin (Danny Smith at their pro days)

I wouldnt read too much into the draft picks and any specific offensive schemes. I know some think that because Green is athletic, the Steelers are going to run a lot of outside zone or something like that. I think the athletecism of a guy at C allows him to be flexible for pulling, zone, moving feet in pass protection.
Things basically shaked out like:
1. Needed a RB.....so draft the all time leading rusher from Alabama.
2. Needed a TE that can block.....so draft one of the best all around blocking and receiving TE's.
3. Needed a C.......................draft a guy that bends his knees well in pass protection, earned first team All Big-10 honors for his run blocking and has a nasty disposition that the O line coach is establishing a culture of nasty finishers.
A really good first 3 rounds.

I am hoping Shaun Wade becomes a Steeler today. Also, not a big need for Steelers, but I like Amon-Ra St. Brown....hard worker and physical receiver.

I am not opposed to one more solid OL today, but I understand we need depth at LB and CB so I imagine that will be most of the picks today.

It’s just another point to show how little we all know about football. OC means Center when talking draft, we all know what’s being talked about. But if you do things differently some people get offended and must belittle those doing things differently. It’s a trait common with those who weigh themselves against absolutely nothing yet declare themselves winner. EGJ is one of those.
