Pittsburgh Steelers star WR Chase Claypool was in involved in a late-night bar fight in Southern California … and TMZ Sports has the footage.

Sources tell us there was an issue involving someone throwing dollar bills at a woman inside the bar, which sparked an argument … and eventually, things moved outside.

We’re told Chase was NOT an instigator -- but as you can see in the video, things started to get out of control and Chase jumped into the action to help out one of his buddies.

At one point, the 6’4”, 238-pound NFL star gets in the middle of the action -- where one of the combatants was wrestling on the ground -- and Claypool delivers a swift kick to the face.

Not really. Why is it so hard for these guys to realize they will become targets for $$$? Yes it's your buddies and all but you have to walk away from that shit especially in a day and age when everyone is carrying a 4K video camera.

No charges so far but I wouldn't be surprised if some follow. I guess this shouldn't be a surprise. It happens with young guys going out to have fun. Hopefully he will learn that he has to be careful if he is going to go out with his buddies and party (nothing wrong with that). Even if he doesn't instigate shenanigans. He is an NFL rising star. His name will be associated with what happens.

Looks like he’s pulling guys away (the guys are kicking a dude on the ground).

Likely won't matter. The league is going to just see video evidence of a player in a bar fight and break the out the suspension dart board.

Agreed. This is on Tomlin for being a player's coach.

Unfortunate, but I didn't see anything that concerns me.

looks pretty weak to me. he looked to try to separate people for most part. These guys are going to be out and about, that will never change. They are young and wanna have some fun. Nothing to see here. Will get a warning and slap on wrist, couple grand fine.......

Good for Chase.

I agree.

In football, in the military, in a bar fight...you back up your teammates, squad, buddies. If you don't, then I don't want to go to battle with you.

That was my first thought as well. Lol. I yell at my wife all the time to turn the phone sideways.

As for Claypool, kicking a guy in the head no matter who your defending is never going to end well. Hopefully it’s a slap on the wrist from the league...if possible.

When did he kick someone in that video? Starting at the :30 second mark it LOOKS like he does but the guy in the yellow and black (oh the irony) shirt jumps in front of the camera obscuring what happened.

It’s clear at the :33 mark you can see his leg and shoe kick the guy in the head area. It’s right after the yellow and black guy walks past. Slow the video down and you can see it.

I just do not see it.

I paused it at :33 grabbing 3 frames before it flipped to :34 seconds and pointed out Claypool. Even right before that all (at :31/:32) all Claypool does is shove someone away from the pile. It then looks like he kicks at the guy on the ground but it's never visible.

The NFL definitely needs to investigate Chase trying to protect his friends before they investigate Deshaun Watson sexually assaulting 43 women.

Right? But you're a Raiders fan so I'd have expected you to call him soft for not biting a nose off in the scrum.

Also not wearing a mask in California of all places, Goodell will have to add a few games suspension for that. :pin:.

1-2 game suspension for that? That was one of the least violent looking brawls I have seen on tape, and as noted, reports are that he did not instigate it and you can see him separating guys for the most part.

I guess the problem for him is that it is "on video" and out there in the media which the NFL front office does not like. They treated the Ray Rice situation with kid gloves until video got out of him hitting his girlfriend.

Nailed it. The NFL will actively help make things “go away” but once that video comes out “poof” - time to break out the wheel of random suspensions and take a spin.

I fully expect Claypool to get sat down for 2-3 games.

The "illusion" of the NFL caring. Like missing 2-3 games addressed the fact that Tyrek Hill beat his girlfriend and broke his baby's arm.

Of course it didn't. All these sports leagues don't actually give a crap about any of this. But it calms the media storms and lets them get back to the business of making money.

Yes, people in their 20s should never go out to bars. They should stay home and do needlepoint every night.

Just did a quick search. I didn't find anything. Knowing the league's tendency, I wouldn't be surprised if they hand out discipline 2 weeks before the first game.
