Not a fan of Juan Samuel, but Wedge would be a good hire.

Chances are they're going to end up with another crap manager like JR was, because no manager with any degree of competence will want to come here.

Most candidates have either pulled out to stay with their current team or have taken a manager position with another one.. Ouch!! I have a feeling these guys do not want to work for Nutting.

Ryne Sanberg was just passed over by the Cubs. Now you can look at this two ways.

1) Why would the Pirates want someone not good enough to manage the Cubs?

or

2) The Cubs are so incompetant that they probably passed on a VERY good managerial prospect.

They are also apparently bringing in Andy Van Slyke for a follow-up interview.

Hard to believe it's been nearly a month since their season ended, and they still haven't hired a manager. Hey Bob and Neal - that should tell you something. Like, no one with any kind of competency wants to work for a couple of incompetent buffoons like you.

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Pirates plan to talk to Texas Rangers’ batting coach Clint Hurdle about their vacant manager job.

Hurdle couldn’t previously speak to the Pirates because Texas advanced to the World Series.

The 53-year-old Hurdle had a 534-625 record as the Colorado manager from 2002 until May 30, 2009, when he was fired and replaced by former Pirates manager Jim Tracy following an 18-28 start. Hurdle previously was Colorado’s hitting coach.

Maybe they can get Wade Phillips or Mike Singletary.

This is totally off subject, but how about some love for Freddy Sanchez winning a world series. Any past Bucco is still in my heart and I wouldn't want anyone, but him to have those honors.
